B.Hamilton FOR M.Bourn (WHIR)

Postby BUCCOFAN » Sat Mar 09, 2013 2:29 pm

15 team, Fantasy Point (Mixed AL/NL) Auction League. Teams are allowed to protect 12 players, Players have 3 year contracts then become free agents. we are also allowed to protect 1 minor league player. My current options are 2 pitchers, (I find pitchers to be always risky) SP - C.Archer $1(2) (TB) and SP-A.Bradley $1(1) (ARZ) I personally would like to improve my minor league keeper for the coming season.

LEAGUE STARTING ROSTER PARAMETERS: 2-Catchers / 2-1B / 2-2B / 2-SS / 2-3B / 5-OF / 1-DH / 8-Pitchers / 6 man bench (players need to play 20 games at a position to qualify) $260 cap, and $100FAAB throughout the season. ($100 FAAB is used to draft our 6 man bench as well, in silent auction)

I GET:
SS/OF - B.Hamilton $3 (1) (eligible to be kept for 3 more years, at that salary, is a steal if everything plays out right, CBS sports always has him eligible for SS, so if he comes up this year BONUS)

I TRADE:
OF - M.Bourn $8 (2) (going into his last year of his contract) (is currently one of my 12 keepers)

MY CURRENT 12 KEEPERS: (Salary) (Contract Year)
C - Y.Molina $11 (3)
1B - E.Hosmer $8 (3)
SS - J.Reyes $25 (3)
3B - B.Lawrie $1 (3)
OF - A.McCutchen $30 (2)
OF - M.Trout $9 (2)
OF/1B - A.Craig $5 (2)
OF - M.Bourn $8 (3)
DH - V.Martinez $8 (2)
P - K.Medlen $1 (2)
P - AJ.Burnett $3 (2)
P - J.Hanrahan $1 (3)
TOTAL SALARY = $110 (leaving me $150 to finish off my roster 12 players to draft)

I already have a SOLID "OF" and have been entertaining offers for Mike Bourn, not getting anything to my liking that would help me NOW, so I am looking at something for the future, and I really think Bill Hamilton has that future with the Reds.....wiether its this season or next, he should be there LF or CF, and lead-off batter. Lots of talk around the fantasy world that this kid could steal 80-100 SB's in the majors someday. Lots of publications have him in the top 5 minor league players for 2013 Season...... Is this a risk worth taking?

If I make this deal, I could keep SP-T.Hudson $4(1) as my last keeper and carry Billy Hamilton as my minor league stash away.

Thoughts?

With the new contract and what he "may" do, I think I roll the dice. If Billy tears it up, you will never get him away from the owner who has him. The fact that you get to keep 1 minor leaguer makes it an easy decision for me.

Thanks for helping me. Considering you only have 1 year left of Bourn, I would do it.

I think I take a chance on Hamilton here. You only have one more year for Bourn and Hamilton could be a stud. Plus your other keepers are really solid. I would make the move.

Please help

Speed is always easy to find but what Hamilton can do we've not seen for years. I'd take him.

I would make the trade but then flip Hamilton for something else. I don't buy the hype. he's fast but I don't think he can hit.

Thanks for your plug.

I agree that Bourn at the end of his run with ou and the minor league slot make this a savy move.
Good luck!

I would do the trade as well, but I like the idea of flipping Hamilton later. I have read he will be moved to the of. Who knows when he will be in the majors?
