Keeper trade Q...Trout for M. Cabrera and Pedrioa...WHIR

Postby jtsandwich » Fri Mar 08, 2013 9:01 pm

10 team 10x10 cats, basically every cat there is (almost) we keep 4 with no time restrictions and no round reduction.

I give up Trout and I get M. Cabrera and Pedrioa.

My keeper would then be,
Cabrera
Pedrioa
Votto
Ellsbury

If I do not do the trade, I would have keepers of,
Trout
Votto
Ellsbury
King Felix

As always, WHIR

Miguel Cabrera? Yes plz. I'd also keep Felix over Ellsbury.

So really you are trading Trout/Felix for Cabrera/Pedroia. I happen to really like Felix and despise Pedroia so I may be the wrong guy to answer but I wouldn't do this deal. I think Trout/Cabrera are obviously close now, but the future for Trout is vast and Cabrera is going to start winding down, especially at his weight. I would pass.

I agree that Ellsbury is a question mark, but for this yr I am more of a fan of him than Felix and I also do have the 1st pick in the draft.

I think Pedroia is a first rounder this year.

I think Pedroia is a third rounder at best. 141 games season he only hits 15 hr with 65 rbi. 2011 he was good and 2010 he missed half the season. That is not the track record of a guy I'm taking in the first two rounds. His upside is minimal and if he only repeats last season he isn't worth that high of a pick.

Pretty sure he played hurt for a bunch of last year, missed 20 games and still put up a pretty respectable line for a 2B. He'll be hitting second in what looks like a sneaky good Boston offense. I've got him down for .303-96-18-81-22 which I feel is pretty reasonable and puts him at 13th overall by my auction values. I also don't think he's that big of an injury risk, especially considering the other guys going around that point in the draft. I'll be buying him all day long in the second round.

+1...though I'm a Pedroia bobo.
I think this deal will pay dividends for a few years despite Trout being younger.

Thanks for the help on mine.

I don't think I would do it. Because you can only keep 4 players, the trade technically is Trout and Hernendez for M-cab and Pedroia.

While short-term, I think M-cab and Pedroia is the better payoff, long-term I would rather have Trout and Felix (or Ellsbury). Pedroia is coming off an injury plagued season. Cabrera's body type doesn't lend itself well to long-term success. Also, it may seem crazy, but you always have to be suspicious of Latin players true ages. Maybe Cabrera is 34 and his career is winding down... you never know.

Just my two cents. Either way I don't think you truly "lose" with either side.
