Bauer or Miller?

Postby pekelly27 » Fri Mar 08, 2013 8:56 pm

So far in my minor league dynasty draft these players have been taken:
1. Profar
2. Meyers
3. Taveras
4. Bundy
5. Cole
6. D'Arnaurd
7. Walker
8. Hamilton (my pick)
9. Eaton
10. Hicks
11. Zunino
12. Baez
13. (my pick)

I am considering either Trevor Bauer or Shelby Miller due to the fact that I should be able to plug them into my rotation pretty quickly and not having to waste a bench spot on them (I would love to take Bogaerts but am apprehensive about using a bench slot on him for what would likely be the entire year). Which one should I take, Bauer or Miller? (Or should I take Bogaerts--or someone else that I missed) Thank you very much!

Miller. I like his chances of starting right away better and I like his projections better too.

I'm here in St. Louis and they are talking like Miller is going to get the job. It was a three horse race between Miller/Rosenthal/Kelly, and they already moved Rosenthal to the pen. Kelly was successful last year as long relief and they love Miller's makeup. I think he slots into the rotation and has a really solid year. I'd take Miller.

I think Bauer's got the better stuff, but not by enough to make it worth not taking the guy on the better team, in the better division/league, with the better pitching coach - go with Miller.

Thanks for your help!
Thank you to soty for hooking me up with another awesome sig!

Bauer has the #5 job in Cleveland I can't see anyone else getting it they traded for him to put him in the rotation rather immediately.

Miller. He's more polished, on a better team, and in the NL.

I'm taking Xander Bogaerts here. Yes, having zero production out of a bench spot does hurt, and in general I don't favor this strategy, but it's worth it in a dynasty league for an elite prospect, which Bogaerts is. Pitching is so incredibly deep it's not even funny. Bogaerts is a .290-30-100 type hitter, which is an elite level SS if he sticks here (not the most likely, but not impossible) and a very, very good bat anywhere else.

Thanks for the help with mine.

I like Miller here, I actually tried to get him from another team this offseason to give myself a good, cheap SP. I honestly think he can return decent value this year (With the normal ups and downs for a rookie pitcher). As for playing team, really no one knows. Yes Bauer may have that spot now but a couple bad starts later, who knows? Where as the opposite could happen with Miller- starts in AAA and is up by May. I like Miller's high K rate and good control compared to Bauer.
