Billy Butler for Adam Jones? (WHIR)

I'm in a 10 team H2H keeper standard cats. I'm keeping Encarnacion $5, Adam Jones $10, Strasburg $10, Sale $5, Heyward $17, Castro $10.

Would you deal Jones $20 for Butler $17/Rutledge $?

Basically he's kept Butler and agrees to buy Rutledge for up to $8 and then trade both of them to me after the auction for Jones. I think Jones and Butler are close in value and adding Rutledge at zero cost to my team is very appealing. Let me know what you think of the deal or if it's too confusing just ask.

Huh. I really like Jones this year, but I might do the deal if you thought you liked Rutledge enough to keep him over, say, Sale. If you aren't almost positive that you'll end up keeping Rutledge then just sit tight on Jones.

Hard to say on Rutledge because he will likely be around $5, but I have no idea how he will play this season.

This is a tough one for me because I have Jones ranked top 15 this year, so it's a lot of value to make up. Guys who have Jones ranked at a more consensus level (30-ish) probably make this trade in a heartbeat.

I would pass on this. First I have Jones at $29 and Butler at $15. Thus the values are $9 and -$2 which equates to a $11 variance. Regarding Rutledge, if you where in a 14-16 team league I would lean towards doing the trade, but in a 10 teamer, you may not even want him on your team. I have Rutledge valued at $3 in 14 team, in a 10 team I would say $1.

I would make this trade. I used to be a huge Jones fan but I was burned by his 3 previous 'breakout' years before he finally did (although that was more my unfaltering faith). Butler is still only 26 and he hit 29 homers last year. He could be Texiera 2.0 for the next 8 years.

I wouldn't falt you for doing either option though.

Hell, I like Rutledge a whole lot more than you do and I still probably wouldn't do the deal.

I keep Jones for sure. I honestly don't think he's gonna be a much different player than McCutchen this year.

I would take Rutledge and Butler over Jones. I honestly would take just Butler over Jones. But I just saw you're in a 10-team league. That being said, Rutledge doesn't have the same value as my deeper league. I personally don't like Jones, but grudgingly say that you should not take this trade.
