Junior Circuit Showdown

CBS Fee: $150

1st Place: $400

This league is modeled after an AL Only head to head points league that died a few years ago. I'm bringing it back, with a few changes. All teams are in a single division, of which the top four teams make the playoffs. Playoffs last two weeks and use the final two weeks of the MLB regular season. The regular season is 24 weeks, and you play 2 matchups per week, meaning a total of 48 contests during the season. You play each of the other 11 teams 4 times for a total of 44, plus 4 extra random contests per the schedule generator.

Lineups are weekly.

Rosters:
C
1B
2B
SS
3B
LF
CF
RF
DH (not utility!)
6 x P

5x Bench Reserve

Scoring is mostly standard with a few tweaks, including quality starts favored over wins, and saves and holds both are scored, although saves have more value.

1B Singles 1 point
2B Doubles 2 points
3B Triples 3 points

OFAST OF Assists 1 point
PKOF Pick Offs by Fielder 1 point
R Runs 1 point

The snake draft will be online, extended starting Thursday 3/14 (or shortly thereafter) with the draft robot suspended overnight.

Draft order assignmwent: When your dues are paid, choose a former World Series MVP from the list below. (visible on league main page) Post it to the message board. Each MVP has a draft slot associated with it. All are blindly drawn at once in advance. Commissioner takes the last remaining. Blind draw completed 3/5/13.

This league will be paypal only, as is my standard these days. I've run IDP football leagues for three successful season, and am happy to provide references and contact info for past winning owners.

Junior Circuit Showdown Constitution

12 Teams, all in one division

Head to Head Points. 2 matchups per week, 24 weeks in our regular season, meaning 48 contests over the course of the season for each team.

Draft & Rosters

The rosters will have an active lineup of 9 pitchers and 6 pitchers. Also, an allowance of 5 bench reserves. 3 DL slots for players that qualify.

You start:
C
1B
2B
SS
3B
LF
CF
RF
DH
6 x P

5 x bench
3x DL (players that qualify per CBS DL designation)

Draft order is determined as such: when your $75 entry fee is paid, choose a former World Series MVP from the list in the commissioner's notes. Each World Series MVP represents a draft position that is blindly pre-drawn by the commissioner and a neutral party before any are awarded. (i.e. Troy Glaus might be pick 11) Commissioner gets the last remaining MVP when all other 11 have been selected.

Draft Date: TDB, will be an online extended

Schedule & Playoffs

Schedule oddities:
Our first scoring period will be 8 days long and run from Sunday to Sunday. (3/31-4/7) All other scoring periods are 7 days long and range from Monday to Sunday.

Regular season ends after week 24. Four teams make the playoffs, which start in period 25.

All 12 teams are one one division, top 4 make the playoffs. Primary tiebreaker is total year to date points. (points forward, higher wins) second tiebreaker is schedule difficulty. (points against, higher wins)

Week 25:
#4 seed @ #1 seed
#3 seed @ #2 seed

Week 26:
Winners week 23 for 1st & 2nd
Losers week 23 for 3rd

Payout Info

Entry Fee: $75 x 12 = $900

CBS Fee: $150 (paid 3/5/2013)

1st Place: $400
2nd Place: $250
3rd Place $100

Transaction Policies

No league vote on trades. Instant approval. Commissioner(s) may review and overturn if collusion is determined. Trades will not be overturned lightly. In the case of suspect trades, the commissioner(s) may ask the two parties to explain their rationale. Unless collusion is determined, no action will be taken. Stupidity and/or lopsidedness do not equal collusion.

Max add/drops to 4 per week, to limit pitcher churning. Use your weekly transactions wisely. It resets overnight on Sunday night, before the Monday start of each scoring period. So if you have any left for the week on a Sunday afternoon, that's good day to spend them a little more freely. However, it's open season between the draft and the start of the season. No limit then, although after the draft, all undrafted players will pass through waivers first.

I have set up free agency so that players new to the free agent pool pass through a 24 hour waiver period. This includes players dropped from rosters, or traded from the NL to the AL in season. After the waiver period, if unclaimed, players become free agents and you can add them at any time with no waiver priority penalty. The waiver priority order starts in the reverse of the draft order, but does NOT reset each week by standings. When you make a successful claim, you move to the back of the line and stay there until other people make claims after you.

Miscellaneous

Commissioner(s) reserve the right to make unilateral decisions for the good of the league. No rules or scoring will be changed in season.
