Draft Stragey This Year?

Postby bouncepass » Wed Mar 06, 2013 7:35 pm

Im in a 12 team 5X5 ROTO.....Snake Draft...we must start 7 SP's and 2 RP's

Usually I wait on Starting Pitchers until about the 8th round and load up on hitting...And I usually get lucky on a couple of pitchers in the later rounds....Not sure if that's the way to go this year though....

What do you guys do?

Any strategy advice this year?

I am in a 14 team league and I usually draft my first pitcher in around the 5th round. I may have to rethink it a little because a bunch of positions are shallow this year.

There are TONS of players at the end of the draft with low average/high HR or SB. So my strategy has been to look away from low average in the first 8 or 9 rounds and actually I've been drafting pitching somewhat earlier than normal knowing that I have batting average to spare late in the draft.

There are so many strategies depending on your league set-up and the other owner's peculiarities. In my A.L. only league, I try to build up dominance in one category, then trade from strength for what I need during the year. Posters constantly write about punting saves, I usually don't chase speed because every year several players become available for steals (Revere, Dyson), power is harder to come by.
