Every season is interesting but this season in particular should be interesting at 1st base. You have 4 young 1st baseman that are viewed as brimming with talent and being on the rise: Eric Hosmer, Anthony Rizzo, Freddie Freeman and Brandon Belt. Hosmer, Rizzo and Freeman are all 23, while Belt is 24. If you had to rank them for 2013 production and also for future keeper production, how would you rank them? It would seem to be a pretty difficult task, though, as I've seen the first 3 going in virtually any order in both keeper and redraft leagues.
Here is what I think:
2013: 1. Freeman 2. Hosmer 3. Rizzo 4. Belt
Beyond 2013: 1. Hosmer 2. Rizzo 3. Belt 4. Freeman
So, I think Freeman is the best bet for 2013 production but drops back to 4th when taking into account future seasons. That is kind of tough and an indication that I think he has the lowest ceiling in the group, though that might not be fair. Freeman is still only 23 years old and broke into the majors when he was only 20, which is typically viewed as being something that only a talented, high- ceiling player would do.
What do you guys think? Do you agree with the rankings?

I agree that Freeman seems to have the lowest ceiling but is the safest bet for 2013. Hosmer has the most potential IMO but alot of risk after last year. Rizzo is somewhere between the two. Belt's ceiling doesn't seem much higher than Freeman and he has the most risk to me.
I think Freeman's ceiling is much higher than Belt's and I don't think Belt keeps the SB very long. I'm not big on Rizzo personally because I don't think he is going to hit lefties anytime soon. Freeman showed huge growth last year and once his contact rate goes up which I'm confident it will he is going to be one step away from an elite 1B. Hosmer has all the upside in the world so I rate him #1.
Having said all of that I own Rizzo in a keeper league so I hope I'm wrong~.

He is a couple years older, but I would put Chris Carter in this group. Age 26, going from OAK to HOU. In his first shot at regular ABs, the guy had an .880+ OPS away from OAK in 2012.

I have a concern about the BA, playing time and crappy lineup. I can see putting Ike Davis in the conversation but BA could be a problem there too.
why are these the main 4 to be considered? I think Paul Goldschmidt should be a major factor in there. Goldschmidt is 25. I would put him 1st for 2013 ahead of Freeman.
