Don't mean to bug.. but I got a keeper league question yo

Postby sportsnut307 » Mon Mar 04, 2013 6:32 am

I'm trying to figure out which players I should keep in league for $marbles$. The league is 12 teams, 6x6 (R,HR,RBI,SB,AVG,OPS)(W,SV,K,ERA,WHIP,K/BB) and head to head. We start every position, 2 catchers (weird, I know), a middle infield spot, a corner infield spot, 5 outfielders, and a utility spot, 5 SP, 3 RP and 4 P spots. We get to keep 15 players.. I marked the guys I'm leaning towards

Hitters
**Giancarlo Stanton
**Hanley Ramírez
**Jay Bruce
**Brett Lawrie
**Anthony Rizzo
**Desmond Jennings
Víctor Martínez
Asdrubal Cabrera
Melky Cabrera
Carlos Gómez
Alejandro De Aza
Jesús Montero
Ben Revere
Adam Dunn
Michael Morse
Howie Kendrick
A.J. Pierzynski
**Manny Machado
Billy Hamilton

Pitchers
**Cliff Lee
**Adam Wainwright
**Chris Sale
**Matt Moore
Mariano Rivera
Fernando Rodney
Matt Harvey
Brett Anderson
Addison Reed
Tom Wilhelmsen
Clay Buchholz
Andy Pettitte
Brandon Beachy
Chris Tillman
Cory Luebke

Those are the 11 players I've got locked in but the last 4 players are where I'm having trouble. Asdrubal, Carlos Gomez, Billy Hamilton, Jesus Montero and Victor Martinez stand out for my remaining hitters. Harvey and Anderson stand out for pitchers. I'm not gonna keep a closer because you can always find saves if you pay attention, although I considered keeping Mo the gawd. Who do you guys think I should go with for my final 4 spots?

Man I could go several different ways with that last 3. I for sure keep Asdrubal here. I don't like keeping closers either but I think you can draft better if you already have a top tier closer

I don't really like keeping Hamilton here but his upside is so intriguing that I would risk a spot for him

Jesus and VMart is close, but the Jesus is younger and a solid catcher option. You have to keep at least one in a 2 C keeper league.

Good luck

Any thoughts on keeping Carlos Gomez? He was honestly a beast last year, almost posting a 20/40 season with a .260 avg. He didn't even receive everyday playing time until at least a quarter of the way into the season. He was once a top prospect. Might he finally be tapping into his potential?

Yes..I'd keep Gomez: I'd go this way:
Jesús Montero C
Anthony Rizzo 1b
Hanley Ramírez SS
Asdrubal Cabrera MI
Brett Lawrie 3b
Manny Machado CI
Jay Bruce OF
Desmond Jennings OF
Giancarlo Stanton OF
Carlos Gómez OF
Billy Hamilton OF
Cliff Lee
Chris Sale
Matt Moore
Matt Harvey

I know I know some would say throwing back Wainwright is heresy. But he has insane SP outside of that. I think you should go young and solid with the best set of young keepers you can. I see no reason to keep an over-the-hill Vmart when you have an equal option in Montero. You kinda have to keep one catcher in a 2-catche rleague. I see no point in keeping closers eihter. Hamilton made it in as my 15th keeper simply becasue you are rollin on upside...rollin hard XD
