$40 (leaguesafe) 12 team Keeper 5x5 Roto Yahoo

Postby Sac King » Fri Mar 01, 2013 7:28 pm

I have two available teams for two GOOD owners to take over. This is a competitive league. In fact, the two owners who left were the two weakest links in the league, so it is about to get even more competitive. If you just like to draft or you quit half way through the season because you're not in the top 3, please don't ask in. I want owners who will play out the whole season no matter what. Details are below - if you would like to get in to this league which is an awesome league and will be for years to come, email me at itsmecoreyb69@yahoo.com

It is a 12 team 5 x 5 Roto on Yahoo with a 24 round draft:

Batters Stat Categories: Runs (R), Home Runs (HR), Runs Batted In (RBI), Stolen Bases (SB), Batting Average (AVG)
Pitchers Stat Categories: Wins (W), Saves (SV), Strikeouts (K), Earned Run Average (ERA), (Walks + Hits)/ Innings Pitched (WHIP)
Roster Positions: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, IF, LF, CF, RF, OF, Util, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL

Buy in is paid through leaguesafe and is due 1 week before the draft takes place. Those that finish in the money are paid within a few days of the season ending. The other owners in the league can vouch for how smoothly it runs and that I am a trustworthy commish. The buy in is $40 and the pay outs are- 1st place = $240... 2nd place = $120... 3rd place = $80... 4th place = $40

The draft date/time is currently set for Tue Mar 26 6:00pm PDT

The keeper rules are probably different than what you have played with in other leagues, but these are good rules that help keep the league competitive every year and not let any one team finish in first place every single year or always have the same team in last every single year. The rules for keepers are as follows:

You can keep 7 players. You can keep less than 7, but no more than 7. Players drafted in the first 5 rounds last year are not eligible as keepers this year and players drafted in the first 5 rounds this year will not be eligible as keepers next year. Also, you can not "keep" a player if he needs to be kept in the top 5 rounds. This ensures most of the top players will be up for grabs every year in the draft and keeps the league more competitive on an every year basis by not letting any one team become too dominant.

The first year a player is eligible as a keeper, he must be kept in the round that he was drafted in (or a higher round) and each additional year after that he moves up five rounds. Example - PLAYER X is drafted in round 17 this year and was not already a keeper. Next year if you want to keep him, you would keep him as your round 17 pick because it is his first year of being keeper eligible. The following season if you (or someone else that picked him up as a FA or traded for him) wants to keep him, he would have to be drafted in round 12. The year after that, round 7. The year after that, he would be in round 2, BUT the top 5 rounds are off limits for keepers, so he's no longer one of your keepers. Make sense? This system rewards those who draft well, make good trades, FA pick ups, etc. Example - Trout was picked up as a FA in 2011, kept as a keeper in round 24 in 2012 and in 2013 will be a keeper in round 19... Amazing value.

If you have 2 players that have to be kept in the same round, then one must be kept in a higher round unless you have multiple draft picks available in that particular round.

Free agent acquisitions that were NOT drafted by anybody can be kept in any round you want. This is like a reward for making a good pick up. Example, if you pick up a guy that was NOT drafted and you want to keep him next season, you would be able to keep him in round 24 if you want to. But, the year after that, he would have to be kept in round 19... and then round 14, etc. FA acquisitions that WERE drafted have to be kept in the round they were drafted in unless they were someone's keeper and in that case they would have to be kept 5 rounds higher. If that means they would have to be drafted in the top 5 rounds, then they can't be a keeper.

If you are still reading this you must be somewhat interested, so here are the two available teams. The number in parenthesis is the round that they are eligible to be kept in this year (I may have made a mistake on one or two but I'm pretty sure they are all correct. I will verify when you tell me which ones you want to keep):

TEAM A: (Has the 4th overall pick in this year's draft and did not trade away or acquire any draft picks for this year's draft)

Edwin Encarnacion (10)
Paul Goldschmidt (19)
Freddie Freeman (17)
Jim Johnson (15)
Jeremy Hellickson (9)
Andre Either (6)
Logan Morrison (16)
Ricky Romero (9)
Jordan Zimmerman (12)
Cameron Maybin (9)
A.J. Pierzynski (24)
Alexei Ramirez (10)
Trevor Cahill (18)
Scott Diamond (24)

TEAM B: (Has the 6th overall pick in this year's draft as well as.. two tenth round picks, zero 14th round picks)

Carlos Beltran (14)
Sergio Romo (23)
Chase Headley (15)
Josh Reddick (24)
James Shields (19)
Alex Rios (17)
Wade Miley (24)
Matt Harrison (24)
Matt Wieters (7)
Nick Swisher (9)
Mark Buehrle (24)
Jose Valverde (6)
Michael Brantley (24)
Ian Desmond (16)
Frank Francisco (13)
Matt Joyce (14)
Jaun Piere (24)
Marco Scutaro (24
Bronson Arroyo (24)
Santiago Casilla (24)
Jonathan Niese (24)
Andy Pettitte (24)

Neither of these teams is the best in the league and neither are the worst. They are probably both middle of the road teams going in to this year. Some other teams don't have as good of keepers and some have better keepers and a couple of teams traded away some high draft picks in this year's draft which will hurt them this year, so if you have some skills - draft well, make the right FA pick ups as the season goes, make good trades, etc. you can compete this year. So if you're hoping to find a team in a keeper league where you will for sure win first place with no effort then this league is not for you... If you have faith in your skills and like a competitive league then contact me - itsmecoreyb69@yahoo.com
