Nobody is down on Trout. He's being ranked as basically a unanimous #3 behind two of the best hitters of this generation and some people are ranking him higher than that. The weight gain isn't an issue. The fact that he's 21 years old, hasn't played a full season in the majors, and is being ranked against Braun and Cabrera is the issue.

Good point, not being comfortable taking a player who hasn't played a full season in the majors and massively outproduced expectations is being down on him. There is a really solid chance that last year was Trouts best year of his career. The question is where the floor is more than anything. If it is like 25 HR, 50 SB I'm fine with him #2 but if it is more like 20 HR, 35 SB then he is going too early. His plate discipline numbers really don't suggest a .300 hitter either and since he is hitting leadoff his R+RBI are kind of iffy compared to someone batting 3rd.

Don't take that as Trout hate either. Cabrera winning the MVP is one of the dumbest things I've seen in award voting history. It is right up there with Clemens winning the CY in 2004 when he was at best the 3rd best SP in the NL and that is being kind. How Ben Sheets took 8th in the voting that year is a complete shock. Though it isn't as bad as the year Colon won a CY.

Give me Mcab. It is all about track record. Mcab is steady as they come and Trout has only one season. I'll play it safe with the 2nd pick in the draft.

Miggy here - the only mistake you can make with the top 2 is to include Trout.
