For those who have expressed interest in this Tampa league I am having an issue with getting everyone to agree on a draft day and time. I would like to draft as close to the start of the season as possible and I have thrown out the following days and times - 3/29 @ around 6-6:30 and 3/30 @ around 12 Noon. It may turn out that I'm drafting for someone (or two) who can't make it, but that's okay because I have been trying to get a live league in Tampa going for the last couple of years and I want to do what it takes to get this league going. Next year I will set the draft day and time well in advance so everyone can put it on their calendar.
I see that those who have replied to this post would like for this to be a Roto Auction league, and I like the keeper idea, so maybe this combined format is one we can move towards, but for this season I want to keep it as an H2H categories format which all of the returning teams are familiar with. The scoring format will be H2H with Runs, HR, RBI's, SB, AVG, K's, Wins, Saves, ERA, WHIP.
I will be commissioning my 20th season of my Tampa fantasy football league and hope to establish the same track record with this fantasy baseball league, maybe not the 20-year longevity, but keeping the same owners in the league for a while. The teams we have so far are really competitive, especially the team duo of Faith/Ray who beat me in the championship game last season. I could have won the league had I not started a pitcher who inflated my ERA in the final week.
The entry fee for this season will be $25 with the winner getting $200 and the runner up getting $50.
The lineup will be your standard ESPN lineup but we'll be utilizing a 2-player or 3-player DL, depending on the size of the league. If 10 teams then 2 DL; if 12 teams then 3 DL.
Right now here are the prospective owners (6 total)
Myself, the Commish
Faith/Ray - Faith can make it Friday night, but not Saturday; Ray can make it Saturday and he's the brain-trust of this team
Chris - I will have to draft his team
Jeff - should be able to make the draft, but may have to draft his team also
Scott - can make it Saturday and will draft his son's - Chris - team
Chris - the son of Scott; there are two Chris's in this league
Cafe owners (total of 4) who have expressed interest so far: snailz (who might have a friend), bigblue13, Tokyo Giants and AugieDogg. I have sent out a Facebook post to solicit interest so I'm hoping to get some of my friends in the league. I really want to have a 12-team league, but if we can start the Inaugural season out with ten teams we can expand to twelve next season.
Let's get this league going. Please join for a great live fantasy baseball experience.
