Should I make this trade offer? (blockbuster-ish) WHIR

10-team, standard 5x5 roto keeper league
Keep 10 players per year....no restrictions

Here is my current set of keepers:

1. Jose Bautista - of
2. Troy Tulowitzki - ss
3. Josh Hamilton - of
4. Justin Upton - of
5. Jason Heyward - of
6. Cole Hamels - SP
7. Madison Bumgarner - SP
8. Brett Lawrie - 3b
9. Jose Altuve - 2b
10. Freddie Freeman - 1b

Bubble: Jordan Zimmerman - SP

Here is the trade I am considering offering.....but I want to see what you guys think first:

I give:

Josh Hamilton - of
Jordan Zimmerman - SP

I get

Justin Verlander - SP
An extra draft pick

Normally, I would prefer to have the hitter over the pitcher in a deal like this.....but in this case I feel that Verlander is actually more reliable than Hamilton.

Since I don't have room to keep Zimmerman anyway, I figure if I can use him to get the deal done and to get an extra early draft pick (probably a 2nd - 4th rounder) its worth it......even if adding him means I am overpay a little bit,

What do you think? Would this be a good deal for me (assuming the other guy accepts it, of course)?

Thanks in advance.....of course, WHIR

Not a bad deal if you can pull that off.....you have enough OF keeper studs already (Bautista Just Upton and Heyward)

If you don't pull off that deal, I would easily let Altuve go, and keep Zimmermann

I like the deal too, especially if you can get a nice draft pick (though I wouldn't necessarily let that kill the deal).

Hamilton is going to get some nice stats, but having the other hitters you already do as well as Verlander/Hamels/Bumgarner for your pitching staff is nice! ;-D

I'm not that big of a fan of Altuve, so I'd actually do a second deal if you trade for Verlander, in which I'd offer Altuve and whatever pick you get from the trade for a better player.

Good luck. Hope you get Verlander.

I'd do that deal, but unless he's short of keepers it will probably be turned down, good luck. ;-D

thanks all.

(and, yes ayebatter, I am targeting 1 of the few teams in the league that are short on keepers).

If he is short of keepers I think its a fair deal. And in a 10 team league I do prefer to get the best player in the deal rather, so I can see how it works for you giving up the talent.

I would do the trade. You definitely have the OF depth to make the move. With Hamilton being such a big injury risk, and changing teams there is a lot that can go wrong.
