Ells/Grandy Trade WHIP

Postby kvh_1fan » Sat Feb 23, 2013 5:59 pm

Give: Granderson & G. Perkins

Get: Ellsbury & J. Niese

I'm loaded at RP so losing Perkins won't affect me at all(I've been trying to trade him anyways). My SP is C. Lee, Zimmerman, Hellickson, I. Kennedy, J. Garcia, K. Kendrick. So i could use the SP depth since Garcia and Kennedy have questions.

What do you guys think? Leave a link and I'll help in return.

Granderson is a much safer bet (than Ellsbury) to get what you would expect from the player. 2011 was probably the outlier for Ellsbury in terms of power. I would prefer Grandersons guaranteed 4 category production (runs,HR,RBI, some SB) over Ellsburys 3 (runs,SB, Avg). Niese is a nice player, but perkins can probably fetch you more than Niese mid-season if he gets the closer role full-time. if you believe in Ellsbury though, he has 1st round potential, which would blow away granderson's value.

Thanks for helping me.

"Give: Granderson & G. Perkins

I think the key is do you believe Ellsbury stays healthy. If he does, and his contract year, he could be in for a great year. However, Grandy is also entering his contract year. If your league has .AVG and Ks I would pull the trigger. Niese might actually have a nice year, so he would be a great #5 starter on your team that you can stream.

thanks for help on mine

It's a pretty fair trade, but I would pass.

It really comes down to the fact that I don't think there is a such thing as too many closers at this point in the season.

There is usually a big shake up in the closer position at the beginning of the season. i wouldn't consider myself "loaded at rp" until AFTER that early season shake up is done. And if you do still have an excess of closers, they will have more trade value mid-season (when there will surely be some owner desperate for saves) than there is now.

Neise is nice.....but not nice enough to make me pull the trigger......and I wouldn't underestimate the value of saves right now.

I'd pass as well. The value is pretty equal on this by most estimations, and I love Niese for a breakout this year, but Ellsbury is too much of a question mark. Granderson is consistent and very solid. Stick with him.

Thanks for the help with mine.

I think I would take it now. Six months of Ells of 4-5 moths of Granderson. Did the owner pull back the offer?
