Sotra depends on what your immediate goal is.
The bad news is that you gave up the 2 best players in the trade (at least as far as this season is concerned). That's never a good thing
The good news is you did get a lot of talent in return. And Bruce isn't that far behind Reyes and Verlander (but he is behind them)
At first glance, I think the other guy won as far as this season is concerned. But i think you probably end up the winner for next year and going forward.
Overall, I think it's a relatively even trade with some upside and downside for both. I would probably rather be on the side getting Verlander and Reyes.....but it's close. And, again, it depends if your primary goal is to win now...or if you think you are better off building for the future.
There is one issue you don''t address that could make a huge differece, though:
It looks like this is a trade that was made after keepers were selected but before the draft. That means you now have 2 more players than the rest of the league......and the other guy has 2 fewer players than everybody else.
Which means that you will have 2 fewer draft picks than everybody else. As long as you lose those two draft picks at the end of the draft, you are still ok. But if you lose those two draft picks at the beginning of the draft, then I wouldn't like this trade for you at all. Similarly, if you have to drop 2 of your player before the draft that also would really hurt you
(note: if the other guy gets to make up those two extra picks at the beginning of the draft, then I think the trade becomes a steal for him).
help with mine?
