First off I want to dedicate this thread to discussing the speedy additions to our fantasy rosters for 2013. With the appeal of power hitters, the stolen base category seems to be overlooked. I've found that the SB category can often times the category that can make or break your roto team's championship run. One of the things I personally look try to focus on come draft day is every day starters that contribute in more categories than SB. I know that 30/30 guys like Ryan Braun are a rarity and hardly a secret, but I would love to hear thoughts on middle/late drafted speedy talent. (Prefer talent that won't kill my team's BA to grab 25 steals). I've seen people attempt to grab the "speedy 4th Outfielder" late, who starts once a week yet pulls 35 steals in a year (but they come in games they don't start and they lag way behind in the other hitting categories). My hope is to hear the Cafe's thoughts on speedy everyday talent.
-Darin Mastroianni, imo, is extremely overhyped. Every projection I see has him between 30 and 37 steals, yet as an everyday starter he's projected to drop a huge egg in every other category (low 50s in runs and sub .250 BA)
-Adam Eaton, however, is possibly under-hyped. (Maybe one of the best sleepers out there) He came in last season and hit the ground raking the ball! With Justin Upton gone now in Arizona he's projected to be in the every day lineup producing stats between 26-35 SB, 80-95 runs, with a BA between .280-.295.
I'm looking for Adam Eaton's more than Darin Masroianni's but am open to all discussion on steals.
Also, I found this article on finding steals late in your draft on fangraphs.com (great website for stat nerds):
