Are any of these SP prospects better than Paxton?

Postby whoson1st0 » Fri Feb 22, 2013 1:39 pm

Hey everyone,

(sorry for double posting but there is very little activity in the Minor League/Prospect forum!)

Looking for some advice for our farm team draft on Saturday 2/23, I have the 3rd pick (12 team 5x5 league). We get 1 MiL batter and 1 MiL pitcher. I already have Wil Myers from last year so I'm keeping him in lieu of one of my picks. My pitcher is James Paxton and I have to decide to keep him or release him and pick someone new. I have to make my decision on whether to keep/drop him BEFORE the draft starts, so I can't just wait to see who is available to me at #3.

The guy we pick cannot be on a team's 40-man roster, and obviously cannot be owned by another team already. Here are a few of the pitchers that would fit this criteria that I could pick up to replace Paxton (assuming they aren't picked before me) -

Jose Fernandez (MIA)
Matt Barnes (BOS)
Aaron Sanchez (TOR)
Noah Syndergaard (NYM)
Kyle Zimmer (KC)

Are any of these guys worth dropping Paxton for?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

I agree Fernandez is but he has a few years before he comes up.

I like all 5 of them more than Paxton so I'd drop him. I'd try for Fernandez but if he's gone at #3 it's a toss up between Barnes and Syndergaard in my opinion.
