Are any of these SP prospects better than Paxton?

Hey everyone,

Looking for some advice for our farm team draft on Saturday, I have the 3rd pick. We get 1 MiL batter and 1 MiL pitcher. I already have Wil Myers from last year so I'm keeping him in lieu of one of my picks. My pitcher is James Paxton and I have to decide to keep him or release him and pick someone new. I have to make my decision on whether to keep/drop him BEFORE the draft starts, so I can't just wait to see who is available to me at #3.

The guy we pick cannot be on a team's 40-man roster, and obviously cannot be owned by another team already. Here are a few of the pitchers that would fit this criteria that I could pick up to replace Paxton (assuming they aren't picked before me) -

Jose Fernandez (MIA)
Matt Barnes (BOS)
Aaron Sanchez (TOR)
Noah Syndergaard (NYM)
Kyle Zimmer (KC)

Are any of these guys worth dropping Paxton for?

I would for sure rather have Fernandez over Paxton and probably Barnes and Zimmer over Paxton due to the possibility of him being a reliever long-term though I still think he can start. Still, those 3 I think have more present value than Paxton.

I wouldn't put Maurer ahead of Paxton just yet and Victor Sanchez is close behind both of them.

I wouldn't put Maurer ahead of Paxton just yet and Victor Sanchez is close behind both of them.

not in fantasy (or in most real life rankings). Maurer could be an average starter if things work out. that's not what looking for in fantasy. Paxton has more upside and downside but I go for home runs with fantasy prospects.

I really like Fernandez so that's an awesome pick.
