OK, 16 team mixed roto keeper, and of the following 12 players, I can only keep THREE
C Buster Posey 1B Eric Hosmer SS Jose Reyes 3B Brett Lawrie 3B Manny Machado OF Yeonis Cespedes OF Desmond Jennings OF Carl Crawford OF Wil Myers SP Stephen Strasburg SP Yu Darvish SP Chris Sale
Now I know what you're thinking. Well, Posey, Reyes, and Strasburg. And if this was a redraft league, I'd probably agree. But it is KILLING me to throw back the likes of Machado, Cespedes, Wil Myers, Lawrie, Darvish, Sale. So somebody needs to make this tougher on me than it already is. I'm in this for the long haul, but I always play to win in the current season. Pick me three I can keep for YEARS....and tell me why.
Many thanks. WHIR, of course.

I think you HAVE to keep Reyes, Stras, and Posey. You basically have arguably the best SS in the game, the best Catcher in the game, and a top 10 possibly a top 5 pitcher. I know you have some other awesome keepers but you have to keep these 3.
Easily Reyes, Posey, and Strasburg. When you only keep three, you can't really do anything but consider it as a redraft imo. Way too much variance from year to year to consider keeping guys for the sake of potential.

You know the ones to keep. Posey, Reyes, Strasburg. All are guys you will be able to keep for years. Strasburg is 24, Posey is 25, and well Reyes is 29. But still all are relatively young and all are at the top of their respective positions. Play to win.
Here is how I would rank them if you could keep more.
1. Posey 2. Strasburg 3. Reyes 4. Yeonis Cespedes 5. Chris Sale 6. Yu Darvish 7. Manny Machado 8. Brett Lawrie 9. Desmond Jennings 10. Wil Myers 11. Eric Hosmer 12. Carl Crawford
Posey, Stras and I like Cespedes. I believe there are plenty of SB's to find and we may have only seen the beginning of what Cespedes can do. I also believe that Reyes is just overrated. Yes he is in a good situation in Toronto, but Cespedes will play another yr or 2 in OAK and then get a big payday. Remember he has a 4 yr 36M contract and OAK will not be in the position to go max and they will trade him to a better home.

those were the first 3 that jumped out at me. and even after looking it over those are the 3 you have to keep. SS is just too thin to keep a OF instead.
I'd still go with Reyes over Cespedes (in addition to Posey and Strasburg) and think his upside for 2013 (top-20 or better, if everything plays out perfectly) make its worth the risk, although I wouldn't fault you if you were worried about his hamstring issues and playing his home games on artificial turf now.
