Should I Keep Kimbrel In an NL Only League?

NL Only, 5x5, 11 teams, $260, keeper with no limit but players get $5 added to their value each year. I made a trade for a $25 Kimbrel. I don't have anything invested in him (and I can afford to keep him). I am not one to usually want to go big on closers but this guy is such a stud. I usually like to go after cheap closers in waiting but figured this way I can let the rest fight it out over who is left and I can go into the season knowing I will be in ok shape. It looks like probably about half of the NL closers will be kept.

What are your other keepers, what are there prices, how mony can u keep?....this would help

would be nice to know how many keepers you get, but if you know other closers are being kept-----well you have the best one period----so yes he is a keeper. He is the best closer by ALOT

Will Kimbrel be $25 or $30 dollars this year for you? Can I see keeping Kimbrel in an NL only league? Yes, but for the right price. I like him alot but am not sure I want to lock in a big piece of my budget pre draft into a closer, even a great one. What are your other keeper options and their prices? Also what do other closers go for in your league..

$25 is high but I think I would keep him. $30 is above my threshold.

He will be $25 for this coming season. There is no limit on what/how much in value you can keep. Pitching wise I am looking at keeping the following-

Gio 20
H Bailey 10
AJ Burnett 7

I also have Jordan Zimmerman for 18 but am in talks with a couple of teams to trade him. Looks like about half of the closers will be kept. Papelbon, Soriano, Axford, Putz, Betancourt, Jansen, Marmol will most likely be available and the rest I am guessing will be kept.

My feeling is I am most likely going to go for cheap pitchers and closers in waiting to fill my roster. By keeping Kimbrel I won't have to worry about fighting for the rest and I will have a great trade piece for later in the year. Also this is a new league so I have no idea what inflation will be like (we won't declare keepers for another few weeks).

Agree. Don't drastically overpay for a closer, even if he is the best
