Teix or Hamels

12 team H2H keeper 5x5 (OBP instead of AVG and QS instead of W)
We keep 8

Current keepers are: Votto, Kemp, Pedroia, Verlander, Price, Granderson, Reyes

8th Keeper would be Teixeira but I've been offered Hamels for Teix and my Josh Johnson whom I wouldn't be keeping anyways. I have Votto at first so Teix would be occupying my UT spot.

Am I better off keeping the bat and saying no to the deal? I just feel that Teix is getting a bit older and I may not see the numbers he put up a few years back. Getting Hamels gives me 3 stud SP, he's also 3 years younger. I would also get another draft pick back in the deal. Which would help fill out my lineup.

I slightly prefer teix in a normal 5x5 league. With OBP instead of average his value should go up some. I'd stick with him.

This, and the bonus is Johnson goes back into the pool where you might have a shot of getting him back.

I'd take Hamels. Who knows how Tex is going to be this year. His OBP is OK (I think is was around .320 last year) but you already have Votto at 1B.

Besides, I almost think the prospect of Verlander/Price/Hamels is too good to pass up. How would you not win most of the pitching stats week in-week out with those three anchoring your staff. Worse comes to worse, you could run your three guys for a month or two of awesome stats and then trade one of them for someone probably better than Tex IMHO.

Use the extra draft pick to get a nice hitting prospect and call it a day!

I would take Hamels no question. Tex is going to be 33 next month and is showing signs of breaking down. His interview with the Wall Street journal was unique in that he was unusually honest for a ball player, admitting that he is starting to decline and that he probably is a .250 hitter now. Can you realistically hope for anything more than a .250-30-105 line as a best case scenario for Tex this year? Plus as someone who has owned him in a keeper for three years (I finally traded him last season), I just find his extreme streaks frustrating to deal with, but that maybe just a personal thing.

Hamels is an elite pitcher who will probably give you the best rotation in baseball.

Yes take hammels and the draft pick....then with the pitching u have u can totally concentrate on hitting.....

Yeah you take Hamels who is no spring chicken either but you'll still get one or two extra top shelf seasons outta him over Tex. Pretty easy decision here. Guys like Pedro Alvarez, Adam Dunn, Even Tex, etc types will be available in the draft so his power will be able to replaced.

Not a bad 8 to kick off the 2013 season with.
