Keeper input por favor

[Nats 2013]

In a 8-team 7x7 h2h each category. The 2 additional bat cats are walks and total bases. We are required to keep 4. the first 3 keepers im pretty set on in Pujols, Votto, and Trout. Choose a fourth out of Joey Bats, HanRam, Kinsler, or Beltre. I'm trying to trade Pujols for Cano, so its a good chance Cano will be in the original 3 keepers instead. Hamels is on the roster but he is not a keeper option IMO. Any Input would be appreciated.

I would go either Joey Bats or Beltre. Depends how you feel about Joey Bats wrist.

I am not a big fan of HanRam, and Kinsler is to much of an injury risk to me.

If you trust Bautista's health, I think I'd go with him because he just kills Beltre in walks (95 vs 33 in favor of Bautista projected in 2013, and that's with Bautista having an estimated 70 FEWER ABs). Total bases will probably go to Beltre, but I think I calculated it to be something like 10-15% more than Bautista).

If it wasn't for the added stats in your league I think I'd go with Beltre, but with them I'd go Bautista...with the disclaimer of you buying into a "relatively" healthy season.

Wow, tough call. 4 great players....but all have some red flags:

Beltre: getting older and reaching the age where stats can drop quickly
Bautista: is coming off injury
Kinsler: Plays scarce position, but average has been down around .250 for a few years now and big drop in HR's last year
HanRam: Biggest injury risk.....he just scares me even though might have highest ceiling, at least when factoring he plays SS


There is really no easy answer....all have risk and reward.

I would go with Bautista just slightly ahead of Beltre.....since right now i trust Bat's health more than Beltre's age.

I wish I could recommend one of the middle infielders, but health issues and declining stats just scare me too much.......but I couldn't blame you if your rolled the dice with HanRam to fill a scarce position.


Still, my official recommendation: Jose Bautista!

LOL he is only aloud 4....lol....so because u havn't made the cano deal yet i go with pujol, votto, bautista and trout...if u deal for cano, he would replace pujols....nice set of keepers you have there...goodluck

Thanks for the help Nats. Ok you have a nice problem. I would go with JBats as well, but with a thought for you to consider. You should evaluate the worst team in the league and see if you can get a big trade! Like M Cab and give him 3 keeper if you have to such as Votto, Kinsler, Hanley. You have the keepers to upgrade and I think you can get a top guy if they are on a team with medicre options.

I like that idea with all the good players this guy has, try to trade...bats, beltre and kinsler....and ya see if u could land a braun or miggy, and i would still deal pujols for cano....ohhhhh those would be some stupid rediculas ...keepers....goodluck

It's a tough one but I think I go with Joey Bats unless you are a true believer (I am) that HanRam is gonna have a sick year with his new stacked lineup
