Auction Keeper Help

Postby PhightinFils » Fri Feb 15, 2013 4:24 pm

I'm trying to decide on my final 3 keepers in my auction league. I've listed the prices next to each player, its a 12 team roto 2 catcher league, with obp instead of avg.

Chris Nelson - 3
Castro - 18
Reynolds - 9
Justin Upton - 43
Swisher - 7
Bonifacio - 8
Pence - 18
Minor - 4
Vogelsong - 3
Hughes - 1
Cahill -1

These are to go along with my other keepers : Perez, Butler, Utley, McCutcheon, Bruce, Hamels, and Gio.

My gut says Castro, Bonifacio, and Cahill, but I wanted to hear some other opinions.

Thanks! WHIR

With OBP I'd definitely keep Swisher (normally I wouldn't say but 7 bucks for a solid power hitter with good OBP is a bargain in my book, Bonifacio (good utility bat nice speed) and Castro (stud SS obvious keeper).

If you could trade I'd keep Minor at 4 bucks also if you can find a way maybe offering Bonifacio and something for a 3b keeper like machado or something. How much is Utley worth I'd almost throw him back for Minor unless he's a super discount.
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be!

Completely agree. Minor is a bargain at 4 bucks, and I also believe Cahill has great value at $1. So if you could somehow keep one of them then that would be a great move I think.

I do like Minor a lot this year as well. Swisher for sure and then I would keep Castro, $18 is about his standard value, but with 10 keepers, his inflation value will be more in the area of $25. You want the position scarcity of SS and a pot 4 at that.

Keep Castro - 18 assuming it is Starling
If you made me keep 2 more it would be
Minor - 4
Cahill -1
But, if you do not have to kee 3 more just go with Castro. You can get these players for the same prices.

I would probably keep Castro, Minor, and Cahill (this is assuming "Perez" in your list of keepers is Salvador). Nick Swisher is a close 3rd over Cahill, but I think you can get him back for the same amount or less.

Ok I had to really look at what you were saying and who you were already keeping, you also don't list any dollar values for any of the guys your calling forsure keepers..Your league also uses OBP instead of AVG so this changes thing if I were picking...

cutch
bruce
butler
perez
hamels
gio
swisher...always has a nice OBP.
casto
and go with the 1 dollar cahill. there is no way I am keeping utley, this guy has to prove he can stay on the field, never mind protecting him( unless he is a buck or two at the most, then take him instead of that last pitcher) .But seriously prices would help a little more....good luck.... ;-D
