I'd venture to guess Farquhar has the closers job to lose in Seattle.

Nice call West. ;-D

He really isn't the prototypical closer stuff or size so I think Melina or Perez in a committee might be safer bet. Also, Pryor and Capps could be factors later in the season.

Size, yes, but stuff? Mid-90s fb plus a slider, high k-rate. What's uncloserish?

Stuff may not be the best choice of words though I prefer more velocity on the fastball for a closer. His location has been spotty in the past and he has a tendency to get hit hard on occasion. Plus, add in the fact that he's small framed, I seriously doubt he can last as a closer at the major league level and is likely better suited for a setup committee.

I think Farquhar will be fine. He's been lights out since the break.

My sentiments exactly......I picked up DeLaRosa as a speculative add, and the stars aligned today when Frieri imploded again, only to see DLR come in and serve up two hits to blow the save.

So going forward, where are we at with this closer situation in LAA?

Mets' Parnell could be heading to the DL. Rotoworld suggests Ardsma as a possible replacement. ESPN think Latroy Hawkins is next in line.

Anyone have an opinion? Mets fans, who has been getting the eighth inning work?

Terry Collins has no opinion, at least. :-D

Collins did not know who his closer would have been Sunday had it come to that.

David Aardsma attempted to close Friday night and blew his opportunity. He also yielded the game-winning home run Saturday in the 12th inning of a tie game.

Oh, and I don't know what to think of the story, but Aardsma's tweets following his blown save are fun:

Hawkins has seemed to be their 8th inning guy, but I'd rather have my testicles gnawed off than have him close games for the Mets. It'd likely be some sort of committee.

I just dropped Nelson Cruz for LaTroy Hawkins.

Never thought I would say that.

Fields staying on for the 9th tonight vs. BOS. Probably the least unattractive of all the closing options for HOU. He has been slow to get going since coming off the DL but was always viewed as the closer of the future for HOU.
