Gregerson came on to start the 9th. he did get 2 out, but also gave up 2 hits. then they go to left handed Tommy Layne to face Heyward. then after Heyward singled, they go to Nick Vincent to face Justin Upton. Upton struck out to end the game, save to Vincent.

He doesn't/didn't deserve the Save last night and it was all teed up for him. Gregerson, as the infamous George Steinbrenner once said of SP Jim Beattie after a terrible start, SPIT THE BIT! He has shown over the last 4 days that he doesn't have the nerve or consistency to be a reliable closer just yet. 2 Saves (one facing just one batter) and 2 Blown saves. I dropped him yesterday...and would have done so even IF Street wasn't ready to return. Seems to me having him take a roster space is more risky to my ERA and WHIP than the upside of getting a save. What a blown opportunity for him.

Surprised there is zero talk of Wilhelmson. Blown up in several outings lately and especially terrible last night.

Greg Johns Twitter

Of closer situation, Wedge says "we'll have to talk about it."

Capps has to be the stash here IMO but anything could happen I suppose.

ohh yeah, there's a major league team out there in Seattle. forgot about that. not really, but I don't think Seattle gets much attention.

when is Stephen Pryor due back?

Oliver Perez has nice numbers, but he is a left hander.

Furbush?

I think it's Capps. Pryor is still a ways away.

if you're trying to grab all the saves you can, Doolittle could be an option to pick up for tomorrow.

OAK closer Grant Balfour has pitched three straight days and if he cannot pitch tomorrow against SEA, expect Sean Doolittle to get save opp.

nothing I say is out there for everyone playing yahoo fantasy baseball to see.
how often does someone see a player with the little red star beside their name, so they click it to have the box pop up. on the right there is the news, and then Advice. how many people play yahoo fantasy baseball? millions? a lot of people are reading that Advice and making their decision based on that. some people probably don't even read where it comes from, and just think it comes straight from yahoo.

transaction trends and drops show that right now Valverde has 1488 drops. that's ridiculous. he is still the closer of the Tigers.

Looks like J.J. Putz will start a rehab assignment at AAA as early as Monday. What are the odds he is given the closer job back when he returns?

Personally, I'd say there is an 80% chance they put Putz back in as closer. But I wanted to see what you all thought.

Gracias, Kodiak :-B

I hope Putz slides right back into the closer role and Bells recent struggles should help lubricate the transition. Putz has to be solid in his rehab appearances though. So wait and see?
