8x8 16 team roto league, keep 8 total. My keepers are insanely hitter heavy, but I feel I have no other choice. My final decision is to keep another bat (McCann) or try to balance things a little by keeping Josh Johnson. What do you all think?
1. McCutchen 2. Fielder 3. J. Upton 4. Lawrie 5. Bourn 6. Prado 7. CC Sabathia 8. McCann/Johnson
Thanks in advance for your help. Leave a link if you'd like me to return the favor.
I would go with Johnson. Like you said, it balances your team out a bit. Also, McCann is going to be out a month minimum from the sounds of it. Not that Johnson doesn't have his injury concerns but he could be a solid SP2 for you if he returns at all back to his form. Your team seems pretty solid and I would think you could get a catcher that could put up McCann's numbers easily considering the time he will miss.
I would not keep either if i could avoid it. Both have bad shoulders, Johnson may be better than last year. Mccann is healing slowly. If I had to keep one it would be Johnson. I suggest that you offer another keeper for 2-3 players and keep the new players.
C - McCann 1b - Fielder 2b - R. Weeks, N. Walker SS - none (Prado qualifies) 3b - Lawrie, Prado Of - Mccutchen, J. Upton, Bourn SP - Sabathia, JJ, Lester, Hanson, B. Anderson RP - Rivera, Nathan
Holes in the roster are from cutting clear non keepers.
An argument can be made to keep Rivera, but I'm reluctant.
Additionally I have two first round picks (14 & 15 overall). The next pick I have after those is #34 overall.
I'd take McCann or Anderson (in a deeper league I'd take a top bat in a shallower position over a troubled arm with upside.) Either are risky picks.
You do have Neil Walker he's a safe option for 2b. If he can stay healthy for a full sesaon you have yourself a stud there. He's another option since you gonna play Prado at SS and Lawrie at 3b.
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be!
McCann is not ready so I would pass. I would keep Johnson, but I like Anderson more. Anderson will be available later in the draft than Johnson, so still target Anderson and trade Johnson after the draft and before the start of the season.
