I understand that work ethic/attitude is very important & Derek Jeter is on the complete opposite end of the spectrum, but something like this is why I don't put too much stock into anything.
I never said anything about players being in the best shape of their life. Sandoval was a guy who was overweight to begin with and now he supposedly added on an extra 20 lbs. Being fat and out of shape isn't going to help him stay on the field. I wouldn't have cared as much if he was a DH, LF/RF, or 1B.
Sure, he could certainly lose some weight before the seasons starts. But with his remarks/attitude, I wouldn't bet on it.
And like I said, he has an immense amount of talent and could finish in the top 50 if things work out. But its been 4 years since he has delivered a return on his ADP. I don't think its a bad pick, but I'd rather not risk picking him at this stage.
Was really torn between Gordon's bat and R.A. Dickey at 6.06. Went with Gordon, but could wind up regretting it.
Dickey's move to a hitter-friendly park in the AL, and especially the AL East, along with his age, troubles me. But there is no doubt he could have just as good a season as he had last year. If he approaches those numbers, that will be a significant value pick at 6.09.
I really would have liked to get another SP or 2 in these slots, but there just weren't any i was in love with. I like the value on Hosmer there and between him, Braun, Bruce and Beltran I've got to like my power so far, add in Phillips at 2B and his 20-HR potential...
