And how many players every offseason "report to camp in the best shape of their life?" Maybe it's just me, but I don't put too much stock in offseason reports about what kind of shape guys are in...at least not this far before the season starts.
I understand that work ethic/attitude is very important & Derek Jeter is on the complete opposite end of the spectrum, but something like this is why I don't put too much stock into anything.http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/eye-o ... erek-jeter
I never said anything about players being in the best shape of their life. Sandoval was a guy who was overweight to begin with and now he supposedly added on an extra 20 lbs. Being fat and out of shape isn't going to help him stay on the field. I wouldn't have cared as much if he was a DH, LF/RF, or 1B.
Sure, he could certainly lose some weight before the seasons starts. But with his remarks/attitude, I wouldn't bet on it.
And like I said, he has an immense amount of talent and could finish in the top 50 if things work out. But its been 4 years since he has delivered a return on his ADP. I don't think its a bad pick, but I'd rather not risk picking him at this stage.
