The pre-season proposal was that players with no prior MLB experience should be ineligible to be drafted. No one raised any objections (and this certainly makes it easier to 'police'), so I think this is the way we go.

Okay, I'm good with that. I wasn't sure if that's where the discussion ended up, wanted to be sure. Thanks!

Top of my list for this round too.
I was actually really going back and forth on that pick, but I knew 100% that he'd be gone by the time it got back to me, whereas the other two guys MIGHT fall.

I don't know about that. Golschmidt's power looks pretty legit to me, and the potential value of a 25/15 guy at first (with upside north of that) is pretty tempting, even if he's only going to hit maybe .260 or .270.
I almost took Goldschmidt at 4.01 but there were just enough flaws in his game to stop me. Is he going to hit righties enough (.731 OPS career), the speed doesn't seem for real, he might bat 6th in the lineup. I ended up going with safe and boring in Hamels instead since it seemed all of the 4th round quality hitters had some sort of wart. My pick of Bruce kind of cut out the other low average 'studs' that were left too since I couldn't afford 2 AVG anchors that early.

This is really the most important part of your post. You can't draft Goldschmidt and Bruce. Well you can, but it makes things sticky, and there's enough poor average/high power guys later on that I'd rather not have that ship sail in the first four rounds.
