He's throwing it in our faces and saying "this is how little I think of the abilities of these so called cafeholics. I will throw away two of my first 7 picks and still win". He is also refusing to pick anyone that can hit a home run or drive in a run. Huge brass cojones on that guy. Much respect.

I just now got that you were talking about me.

The bad thing about purposely slow drafts is that impulse to get so and so, now, before that other guy, in case he reads that article, is utterly halted and left to fester in one's mind while other people pick. I don't know what it is, but I find myself juggling 3-4 names off and on throughout the day trying to figure out the best (or least erroneous) pick. I'm just glad the wife hasn't looked into my distracted eyes and asked what I'm thinking about. Talk about unexciting to others...

The good thing about purposely slow drafts is that due to the juggling of those 3-4 names, I'm doing all sorts of preseason reading and research on players I wouldn't have been able to do if the clock was a minute or 90 seconds between picks. Honestly, I know a lot more about Jayson Werth than I cared to before this draft, but now I could probably give a 30 minute lecture on his background, injury history, hairstyle choices, lineup advantages/disadvantages, and projections. Pretty good prep all around, this draft.

You're absolutely right. Doing a slow draft like this, as early as it is feasible, is tremendous help to me in preparing for the 90 second picks and auctions. It forces me to consider the value of guys I normally would disregard, which in turn makes me much less likely to panic or get caught up in a "run" in the quicker drafts.

Apologize for the delay. For some reason I am no longer receiving emails in regards to activity on here. I clicked unsubscribe and then subscribe just now...we shall see if that works
