Ok so we keep 5 hitters and 5 pitchers and then have a draft for the rest of the players. 16 team H2H 5x5 League. No $ values or losing certain draft picks for keeping certain players. Pretty simple league.
Hitters- I'm keeping CarGo, Tulo, and Joey Bats for sure.
Which 2 other hitters would you keep?
Aaron Hill Angel Pagan Marco Scutaro Paul Konerko Adam Dunn Todd Frazier Austin Jackson Jesus Montero
Then which 5 pitchers?
Brandon Beachy Trevor Cahill Ross Detwiler Doug Fister Jim Johnson Lance Lynn Kris Medlen Brandon Morrow Jeff Samardzija
I have 3 more pitchers but they weren't worth listing.

I'm not a huge fan of keeping 3 OF'ers to start, but I think Jackson is the best player in your bunch after Hill.
Can you keep one more bat over one more pitcher? I would easily keep Montero, Hill and Ajax for arms: Lynn, Johnson, Medlen, Morrow/Samard is a tossup! I think I'd go Morrow with his high ks and improved win total.

Hitting- I'd go Montero and Austin Powers Jackson yeah baby on offense. Montero is a young catcher who is known for his hitting- I'd hang onto him. Jackson plays on a top offense and should score a lot of runs. I don't trust Hill- he is a risk imo
Pitching- I'd hang on to Beachy even though he's out for a few months. When he comes back him and Medlen are very solid and give you a solid one-two punch in a large league. Samardzjia and Fister I like better than the others and should keep you competitive until Beachy comes back while Johnson can rack up some saves.

No we keep exactly 5 hitters and exactly 5 pitchers. I'm having a harder time with the pitchers. When the league started we picked a real MLB team and got to keep 3 pitchers and 3 hitters(We increase 1x1 each year) and had a draft with the remaining players. I got the Rockies so I started with Tulo, Cargo, and I forget the 3rd(the league is in it's 3rd year) My pitchers were Jimenez, J. De La Rosa and Street from the beginning. I went heavy on offense the initial year and with that and Jimenez forgetting how to pitch and de La Rosa always injured, my rotation has been absolutely horrible. Right now this is the best the rotation has ever looked so that's why I'm having a hard time throwing any of those guys back lol.
I picked up Middlebrooks and Simmons early last year and flipped them for a couple of these pitchers. This was before Middlebrooks really took off. Sure wish I had him back now! It would definitely make my pitching keepers an easier choice, but at the time Joey Bats had 3B eligibility and my hitting has always been stacked. Fwiw, I took 3rd in 2011 and 2nd in 2012, losing 5-4 with every category being really close. The same guy won both years and I really want to stop his 3-peat this year lol. I don't want to throw any of Morrow, Fister, Johnson, Samardzija, Medlen, Beachy, or Lynn back. I pick 15th in the draft(16 team league) so I'm not sure I could get any of them. I'm glad I have a month and a half yet to decide and I appreciate all the responses. Fun stuff.
