This is tough but i'm going in another direction. I don't trust Hill repeating his numbers- i think Middlebrooks has better upside, long term especially. Asdrubel Cabrera or Kris Medlen is really tough for me. Can't fault you for keeping Asdrubel Cabrera, but Medlen's numbers were so good last year I'd roll the dice and hang on to him. His numbers were pretty sick. If he repeats- a big if mind you, you've got three aces. Good luck.

C Buster Posey (must keep)
SS Asdrubal Cabrera
3b Mark Trumbo (i'd take him as your 3b only if he has eligibility else I'd take hmm Middlebrooks)
OF Josh Hamilton, Adam Jones (two no brainers)

David Price, Clayton Kershaw, Kris Medlen (wiht these three arms you won't even need to worry about pitching til late in the draft - except for closers)

Sure Tex will give you power, but he's trending downward as he gets older and his skill set wanes. I'd throw him back. 1b is one of the easiest positions to fill. You can easily get his power in the draft (with a guy like Craig, Laroche - whom you own which IMO makes a better choice, Freeman) without him killing your BA as much. I'm with Kelly on Aaron Hill. You are throwing back both Hill and Uggla - you can get one or another in your draft. Love your team just hate you have to dismantle it.

With not top options you have I'd fill the thin positions will beasts.

If you guys are wondering, I finished 3rd in my league with this lineup. League has 12 teams in it.

I'm really hoping that Trumbo will have his 3B eligibility and then I will be keeping him. Middlebrooks is a keeper, but since he spent so much time on the DL and it was at the end of the year, he isn't on the top of people's minds so I can easily get him back in the draft if i plan it out right. As for Aaron Hill, I do not think he will be able to repeat his numbers from last year, especially with losing Justin Upton in the lineup even if he didnt have the best year pitchers still had to think about him. Also Aaron Hill has disappointed me twice before after drafting him so I am just going to stay away form him.

The real question lies with Laroche, Tex, Cabrera and Medlen.

1. I shouldn't even be thinking about dropping Laroche after a 30+ HR and 100+ RBI season... but I am.
2. The only thing keeping Tex in my mind is Yankee stadium and the potent lineup, but thats what made me trade for him last year and that didn't pan out.
3. Asdrubal had a pretty good season, but injuries kept him from proving if his 2011 season was a fluke or not. Tribe added more offense so thats a plus and he is a solid SS and everyone knows its impossible to have a great fantasy SS out of the top 3 picks, which will all be keepers so i'd have to give up a lot for them (Tulo being my favorite player).
4. Medlen... what a season! He will have more offense and a great outfield to back him up. Ended the season ranked 20th overall on yahoo. young kid with a great ERA and WHIP, and could get better on his K's.

Right now I'm leaning towards this lineup
Posey
Hamilton
Jones
Cabrera
Trumbo (not sure if he loses 3B)
Kershaw
Price
Medlen

*Laroche to fill in for Trumbo if he loses eligibility

I don't feel like any of you guys are missing it at all (very solid arguments), but to me it is very risky to drop a solid bat into a draft for a P who had a great second half, in Medlen.

I would love to have him, but when you have a guy like Tex or Middlebrooks---you keep them over an arm any day

Keep the bat, pitching is always available....pay attention and you can pick up another hot hand off waivers during the season

You call Middlebrooks a solid bat?
Career .276 in minors. Last year had a 5 to 1 K/W ratio.
He has power, but horrible plate disipline.

I can see keeping Tex and Trumbo, and letting Medlen go.
But i wouldn't keep LaRoche or Middlebrooks over Medlen.

I agree with your thoughts that pitching is always available. But i dont think i can keep Middlebrooks. If anything I would want to keep Laroche. Middlebrooks I would be able to draft because he isnt a flashy young name in my circle of managers.

So now what makes me keep Laroche vs. Tex?
