ESPN, roto, 5x5, 12 team, mixed, weekly lineup, $90

We’re looking for ONE replacement owner in our 12 team ESPN 5x5 roto keeper league. The league has been around since 2009 and has a good blend of owners – some strong, some casual. Below are the settings from last season; we’re in the process on voting on changes for the 2013 season but based on prior seasons it is unlikely any of the following settings will change much at all:

12 teams
Roto scoring
Weekly lineups
Full MLB player pool (i.e. not NL or AL only)
C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, MI, CI, 5OF, U, 9P, 6 bench, 1DL
207 games started limit
50 transaction limit – for free agents (not trades)
Online snake draft in late March
$728 prize pool split between the top 4 teams (45%, 30%, 15%, 10%) – we use LeagueSafe

Our prize pool is handled uniquely - the lower you finish in the standings the more money you owe. We feel that this incentivizes people to stay competitive all season long. Last year the fifth place team contributed $68 to the prize pool, the sixth place team contributed $75, the seventh place team contributed $85, etc. The last place team contributed $110 and the average “loss” per team #5 to #12 was $91. We may vote to increase the prize pool so that the average losing team contributes $106 to the prize pool.

It is a keeper league – each team may keep up to 3 players from their 2012 team with each keeper representing one pick in the draft. Teams that keep 3 players will make their first draft pick in round 4. Teams that keep 2 players will make their first draft pick in round 3. Teams that keep 1 player will make their first draft pick in round 2. Teams that keep 0 players will make their first draft pick in round 1. Most teams keep 3 players, even if their third best player isn’t a top 36 player.

The team that needs an owner has the following keeper options:

Votto (ranked #7 by ESPN)
Kinsler (ranked #27)
Greinke (ranked #41)
Ryan Zimmerman (ranked #52)

Several teams have more than 3 viable keepers, so there will be a lot of very talented players available in the draft. For example, if you only decide to keep Votto (while most other teams keep 2 or 3 players) you will have the opportunity to draft:

Heyward (ranked #28)
Cain (ranked #30)
Adam Jones (#34)

Thanks for reading!
