ESPN has finally finished up their house cleaning for the 2013 season so I think it's time to get the ball rolling on a new 5x5 roto league. Been running leagues for close to 10 years and participating in fantasy baseball for about 12.. Yep, I remember when Youklis was actually someone you sought after and can even recall the fantasy relevance of Bernie Williams. As much as I really enjoy the guys I have played with I am looking to start fresh. Having said that, I am only looking for individuals in their 30's and up who have been playing ROTO fantasy baseball for many years to fill up the league. Find the best competition comes from the most experience. Well, most of the time..... It's a very standard 5x5 with the exceptions of OBP for BA and QS for W's... Simple as that. It will be a snake draft but I am in favor of using a FAAB system for the acquisition of waiver wire adds. It will run on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday so all owners in the league have a chance to add who they want regardless of availability of time. Each team will have $120 for the year. The draft is slated for Sunday March 24th at 9pm eastern time. Each team will have a maximum of 60 seconds to make their pick to speed things up a bit.
Trades will be immediately transacted as each owner will have one challenge per year. If they deem a trade collusive or EXTREMELY one sided then they have the right to challenge the trade. After that the trade will be voted on by the league. If half the league deems it unfit to go through the trade will be rescinded. You only get one challenge per year, though, like in football if the league doesn't allow the trade you will lose your challenge for the year. It actually is a great system and to be honest I have not had to ever rescind even one trade. It is a money league with an entry fee of $100 and trust me, I know how that goes. Though, I have run many leagues in the past and to to ensure a safe/comfortable environment we will be using league safe. Never had any problems using it and it really cuts out the hassle of collecting and paying for all parties. It's a very simple process, if you don't pay you do not draft. Top 3 spots get paid out the full entry fee of $1,200 in percentages of 60/30/10. There are 21 starting roster spots. Including 4 OF's, 2 Utility Spots and 8 pitchers. All 7 other batting spots are 1. 6 bench spots and 1 DL. This is not a keeper league.
