$125 cap, contracts signed for 1-3 years, 40 man rosters, normal H2H points league but pitcher Ks are worth 1/2 point. Weekly rosters, start 9 hitters/5 SP/1 closer (closers score very little in this format and as such, go for no more than $3).
Anyway, I have 18 players to get and $81.75 to spend, which is huge. Most teams that have that much to spend need to fill out most of their team. I’ve been offered Jose Reyes ($12 re-sign for a year) for Pettitte ($2 for a year). Obviously the deal is fine on paper and $12 is fair value for Reyes, but do you think it’s worth keeping that money in place and letting it fly with Aybar as my starter? There are some major players out there to spend on. To name a few, Pujols, Kemp, Hamilton, Prince, Longoria, both Uptons, Edwin Encarnacion, Beltre, Craig, Bautista on the offensive side – Sabathia, Hamels, Wainwright, C.Lee, Cain, Gallardo, Halladay, Kuroda to highlight the better arms available. If I did the deal, I’d still have a fine amount to spend, but is it worth trading for Reyes and having $10 less, or should I stick with what I’ve got and see what auction brings? If the turf in Toronto didn’t worry me so much in regards to Reyes and his hammy issues of the past, I may have done this already. Additionally, the other owner just traded for a $3 Jeter, so he may not be re-signing Reyes anyway and is trying to just see if someone bites. If Reyes reaches auction, he would likely go around this same price tag. Should I chance him dealing Reyes to someone else or do I take the sure thing? I think Aybar is in for a very nice year, but his ceiling is nowhere near what Reyes can do of course.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated and I will be happy to help anyone that responds.
I would take Reyes. While it cuts into how much you have to spend, it is still a pretty good price for Reyes and that is what you should be thinking about. There is not guarantee that you get all the players you want at auction so I would take the bargains when you can get them.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the responses. I did the deal with Peralta included for Andrew Oliver. He's worthless but since he's just 25 cents for a year, I saved a little money in the process. I feel very good about this. If you guys need any help, feel free to link me to your threads.
Reyes is SB's and runs, nothing more, you can find SB's elsewhere. HE WANTS YOU TO KEEP HIM! I think he is $7 in your format. People remain high on the name recognition of Reyes. Don't fall into the trap. If SB's are a real concern over the long, go get Billy Hamilton, he will be 70+ starting in 14'. Regarding Pettite, cut him loose, he is not worth $2, no way.
Almost forgot, I am in a $260 auction and I will be calling Reyes up for auction my first call up. Why? because I know someone will pay $28 for a $15 player and waste big $.
