Keeper System Format

Postby Fade2White12 » Tue Feb 05, 2013 11:41 am

I've only included three options in this poll. Each one is representative of the type of proposed changes that appeared to receive the most interest. If anyone wants an additional entry to be added to the poll or tweak of a current option, just post here and I'll include it.

Here are the options:
A. Escalating & Sliding:
Escalating and Sliding Keeper Penalties:
1st - 5th - Pick escalates 1 round per year.
6th - 11th - Pick escalates 2 rounds per year.
12th - 20th - Pick escalates 3 rounds per year.
21st - 26th - Pick escalates 4 rounds per year.

B. Escalating:
All picks, regardless of round selected, escalate 3 rounds per year.
*I know other numbers have been thrown around (i.e. 1 round, 5 rounds, etc.), but if this format appeals to you, vote B. You can voice your proposed # of rounds below.

C. Late Round Jump and Escalating:
Any player picked after Round 15 is kept as a Round 15 player the following year. Each year after that, the pick escalates 1 round per year.
*Aye proposed this last year minus the escalation. However, it became quite the consensus that people were in favor of round escalation, and I think this would appeal to more people. But again, as with option B., Round 15 is an arbitrary number. If you want this general format but would want to tweak it, vote C. and voice your opinion below.

I prefer option A, it seems to make the most sense to me.

I voted B since this seems to allow for greater movement of the player pool year to year, I still think C is the most fair system but it leads to issues with manager turnover year to year.

A for me as well. I think the biggest competitive advantages occur from late round homerun picks. Therefore, they should escalate faster than early round picks. You still earn the benefit of the player in an advantageous slot, but it won't last forever ;-D

It looks like this poll has become a runaway. To confirm, this year's keepers will be kept at last year's draft slot & then the escalation will begin next year?

The crowds have spoken!

We'll be going with option A. The democratic process succeeds once again.

I expected that it would start immediately. We've been living penalty free for the last 4 seasons. :-b I don't see any reason to give to wait, IMO.

Does anyone else want the penalties to start next season?

The penalties are weak enough I can't imagine a good reason to wait a year since we haven't even declared keepers yet. I don't imagine these would have significantly changed anyone's keepers from last year or how they drafted.

Agree with starting the penalties right away. Also, I think FA's should be 15th rounders this year and then their keeper escalation starts.
