Brandon Webb retires

Postby chris8 » Tue Feb 05, 2013 5:03 am

Brandon Webb has announced his retirement.

I'm sure many of us remember the years from 2006-2008 when he was one of the first SPs off the board in drafts (he was in 2009 as well, after his 22-win season in 2008, but that was the season when he got injured and never came back).

Sad end to what at one time was a hugely promising and exciting career.

He's one of those players I admire, that have a weak skill one year and successfully fix it the next.
With Webb it was walks.....2004 BB/9: 5.1, 2005 BB/9: 2.3.
Having Randy in his ear for a couple of years couldn't have hurt either.

He should hold some sort of record for "throwing for teams" post on though right? :-b

He was one of my favorites. I remember being pretty excited to have grabbed him and Dontrelle as rookies in my keeper.

He was actually underrated until his huge year and then he was overrated and nobody with a brain drafted him. Those brainless zombies looked good when he suddenly got hurt and never got it back~.
