trade troubles...or not

Postby plamb23 » Sun Feb 03, 2013 12:42 am

12 team 5x5 roto, 15 keepers--

Keepers- McCann, Votto, Kinsler, Andrus, Rutledge, Zimmerman, Machado, Seager, Freeman, Trout, Cutch, Willingham, Fowler, Price, Scherzer

In my mind, i think I need to add a third keeper SP and have tried several different combos to no avail...

The only bite that I have is a --Halladay for Zimmerman trade that I can't seem to jump on because of Roy's age. Would any of you do this?

I have also entertained trading McCann and/or Willingham but with McCann I would have to keep Avila, make another trade, or go into draft with no C.

Not sure of WIllinghams trade value; had great numbers last year but no one seems interested in him

Some of my new targets are Samardzija or Garza. Are they worth the effort?

What are your thoughts? Am I good to hold til draft, good with no C, and/or who should I dangle?

thanks and I will help when I can

It doesn't seem to make much sense to keep 5 players who play SS/3B. Is this a MI/CI? Even if it is you have Freeman for CI.

I would look to package some of these guys to get back a pitcher. I am not sold on McCann but it just doesn't make much sense to keep a bunch of players who will sit on your bench.

And yes Samardzija is worth going after. Moreso than Garza in my opinion.

Those are my best 15 and yes I have been trying some package deals, but we have MI/CI, 4 OF, 2 UT so they do fit

So WIllingham for Samardzija is a deal to make?

I think I'd keep Zimm with Roy's age and shoulder injury it would be too risky to make that deal. Try to unload Willingham &/or McCann &/or Freeman- Willingham had a career year last year- try to move him while his value is high if you can. Maybe you can try to snag a guy like Beachy who is hurt but returns midseason or someone who had a bad year like Lester.

In a 12 team league, guys like Fowler are nothing special. You could certainly package him and Willingham for a pitcher. That said I know you keep 15 and as such go 180 deep which means there is not a lot to be had, but you usually can scrounge out a pitcher or two as the year progresses.

Also, if this is a 12 team\1 C roster league, keeping Mccann is not essential. The 12th best catcher is not much worse than the avg and McCann is no sure lock to bounce back and not go the way of Russell Martin 3 years ago.

I would pass on the Halladay offer. I like Halladay but not enough to trade Zimmerman for him in a deep keeper. The age difference is too much imo.

Fair enough. If you can't get a package deal done then I would do the willing ham for standardization deal.

In a 1 C league there is no need to use up a keeper spot for a C if you have similar options as keepers; C position is very deep this year and gets deeper as season progresses

I would try and package McCann and Fowler for an arm. Samardiza is definitely worth going after. He is still under the radar and could be an ace. I wouldn't do the Halladay deal and I would keep Zimm.

please help

Would you try McCann/Fowler for Halladay if Samardzija doesnt work?

The samardzija owner is tough to deal with....

some other options: Garza, Lester, and Latos
