Keeper Trade: Pedroia for Kipnis?

Hi all,

Another question for you guys, since this forum has some excellent advice. I am pondering whether to trade Dustin Pedroia ($26) for Jason Kipnis ($3). I am in a Basic, 5x5 mixed league with a $260 cap and 7 keepers allowed. We draft 23 players and 3 reserves (auction draft). Is this worth it?, Pedroia is obviously elite and a top 25 player overall, but Kipnis is up and coming and so cheap ($3). Is the trade off in talent worth making the deal for Kipnis? It would also give me another $23 at the draft to spend. Would you guys do it?

I love Pedroia but I gotta think the downgrade from him to Kipnis is worth $23. I'd make the trade.

Assuming you can keep these guys long-term (not exorbitant yearly price raises) I'd go for it.

i'd make the deal. kipnis should improve- the money you save can make your team much stronger overall.

I don't even view this as THAT much a downgrade. Kipnis has pop to pace with Peds on XBHs and he wil definitely pop him plus he has some surprising speed. I'd take a 25/25 HR/SB threat with the ability to put up 40 doubles in a full season. And that extra money saved is pretty much gravy. See, Peds is on the wrong side of his career at this point. Kippy is just entering his prime years. I think this deal is definitely worth it. Plus it looks as though youc ould use the cap money to acquire an elite SS (if any available) and a good 3b.
