12 team mixed league Can keep 2 hitters and 2 pitchers You lose the round the were drafted in the previous year or slotted in My options: Tulo - 1 Sandoval - 2 Morse - 4 Choo - 5 Prado - 9 Molina - 15 Laroche- 23 A Soriano - 21 Rutledge - 25
Street - 10 Motte - 20 Romo - 22 Shelby Miller - 24
I'm leaning towards Choo, Prado, Motte, Romo Every pitcher I drafted last year got it hurt, long season.
I'd then choose between these 2 guys per spot. Not great on Choo at that round, same for Prado. I think with these it gives you the best value, and you get to keep all of your early picks. I'd probably go with Molina and Romo. Closers and catchers aren't what I normally keep but i think they give you the best combo of value and production.
You guys that high on Rutledge? I'm hesitant to keep yadi? I'm a cardinal fan too. Heck even my dog is named yadi. But I dont think he puts those numbers up again. I agree choo doesn't have value at that round. Thinking more of Prato and rut, motte and romo. Closers go early in our league.
Josh Rutledge will be eligible for 2b and SS. He hit in the minors last year: .320/.374/.496/.870. That's pretty solid and he did very well at the major league level as well: 353 with four triples, 13 doubles, seven homers and 27 RBI in his first 42 games as a professional. He'll be hitting at the top of a solid lineup that features Tulo, Cargo, and Rosario around him (good protection). I think the Rox have found them something here. Sure he's young and untested but in a keeper he holds great risk/reward value. If he doesn't work out you spent a last round keeper on him, no biggie. I like the fact he plays a thin position as well. At least we might see some depth to 2b again.
I'd take Pedroia jr. anytime!
I'd take Laroche as my other keeper a 30 homer bat in the 23rd round? I'll take that! Jason Motte is an obvious no brainer for your arm. Shelby MIller again for a late round pick is worth the slightest risk. He'll take his power fastball and knee buckling curve and harang you the strikeouts to your stat colemn. FYI that's who Shelby Miller reminds me of except with a bit more oompfh on his fastball and slightly better command.
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be!
I personally would go Molina-LaRoche and Motte-Romo, but I understand the fanfare for Rutledge as well. I do think you'll be able to get Rutledge a little later than you would Molina or LaRoche though if you threw them back in, which to me puts a slight edge to them.
