Lincecum trade value? WHIR

Postby beisbol4ever94928 » Wed Jan 30, 2013 2:01 am

16-team h2h dynasty league.

I have been approached about trading Lincecum and not sure where I should value him. Is his value extremely low because of his poor finish last year? Or, is his value just fine with the assumption that he may have just been worn down?

Here is my team:

C- Ryan Doumit (800k)
1B- Billy Bitler (6/6/6/6 +7.5m option)
2B- Brandon Phillips (8/10/10)
3B- Brett Lawrie (10/10/10/10/10)
SS- Zack Cozart (600k/800k/1m/1.2m/1.5m)
LF- Josh Hamilton (11/11/11/11)
CF- Starline Marte (600k/800k/1m/1.2/1.5)
RF- Jayson Werth (6/6/6)
UT- Nelson Cruz (10/10/10/10)
BN: Nick Swisher (5/5/5), Justin Morneau (3/3/3 +3.75m option), Tyler Pastornicky (600k/800k/1m/1.2/1.5)

SP: Justin Verlander (16/16/16), Cliff Lee (14/14/14/14 +15.75m option), Zack Greinke (10/10/10/10), Tim Lincecum (12/12/12/15), Jake Peavy (2/2), Kyle Lohse (1.4), Alexi Ogando (3/3), Zach McAllister (600k/800k/1m/1.2/1.5)

RP: JJ Putz (5/5/5), Rafael Betancourt (5), Jose Valverde (5/5), Kyle Farnsworth (3)

Prospects:

Mike Montgomery
Dan Vogelbach
Eric Surkamp
Matt Szczur
Sonny Gray
Trevor Bauer

What (if anything) should I focus on? I have dangled Tim Lincecum out, and I consider his value to be a bit degraded but not very much. I consider last season due to fatigue. He seemed to bounce back well in a reliever role, so I expect at least a good first half out of him. I have been approached by a team with interest, and am looking for advice on who to ask for.

Here are his players:

Carlos Santana (8/10/10/12/12). I like him, but seems a bit high on price wise?
David Ortiz (6m). Not sure I want to trade Lincecum for a one year player that is at the end of his career, even though he will provide some pop.
Miguel Cabrera (20/20/20/2020) I don't need a 3B but Miggy is Miggy. I would have to move Nelson to make room and salary space, so unlikely.
Asdrubal Cabrera (6/8/10/10). How much of an uprade over Cozart would he be when money is considered?
Matt Kemp (16/20/20/24/24) Doubful a package could be arranged.
Shin-Soo Choo (8/8) I like him, but his injury proneness lately is a concern and I expect Werth to do pretty well in that lineup.

Mike Minor (2/2)
Matt Harrison (800k) Nice value.
Patrick Corbin (2.3/1.3 +3.4m option) I like him and he has offered him to me int he past for other deals that I turned down.
Justin Masterson (3/3/3)
James McDonald (3/3/3 +4m option)
Doug Fister (2/2)

Jason Motte (4/4/4/4)
Greg Holland (800k)
Jonathan Papelbon (8/8/10)
Brian Wilson (5/5/5)
Wilton Lopez (800k)
Tony Sipp (800k)
Ernesto Frieri (4/4/4 +5m option)

Prospects

Francisco Lindor
Manny Banuelos
Brett Jackson

I only have 27.4m left before the cap, and still have the FA/prospect draft to complete. I like my team, so not too worried about the cap, but a little extra room wouldn't be terrible. I am going for the championship this year as I think I have a very strong pitching staff (RP can use some help but not terribly concerned) and a good offense. Especially in a 16 team league.

Should I even try to make the above-mentioned manager an offer for Lincecum? Unless I send more then one player, I can only get on major leaguer in return to be at my 25 man roster. If I could package Lincecum and Cruz together, I would love to. But I don't see that happening because I would want Kemp or Miggy. Any suggestions?

Not really in love with your prospects, or Lincecum at this point. Sure he could bounce back, but there's also the chance he struggles again (mechanics/fatigue/physical structure). And there's an ever greater chance he becomes a reliever. One route I would look into would be Minor (who could equal Lincecum if he does have that down year), Banuelos (stash for 2014 and beyond when he will be top prospect again), and Lindor (who could be a big upgrade over Cozart by 2014 and then you trade Cozart). Probably not the glamorous deal now, but sheds high salary and offers greater long term upside and value IMO

I was kind of thinking something like that, but involving Corbin as well. Would that be asking too much to ask for Corbin/Minor/Lindor/Banuelos?

I would maybe add someone else if you want to include Corbin, or just drop Minor from offer if you really like Corbin that much (personally I don't). Really depends on how much he values Lincecum

You have a lot of potential in your offense, but could stand to gain a bit more in the bats department. Saves would be a good get, too. I think you could possibly get a package of Papelbon and Ortiz or Choo for Lincecum... maybe. I think general consensus is that something was wrong with Lince last year, and until he shows differently as a starter again, he won't get you more than .75 cents on the dollar.

I'd package Lincecum Cruz and Cozart for Cabrera and Motte.

See where that gets you.

I think that would get him run out of town or shot.
