It's never too early to get baseball fever! I'm in a 12 team 5 x 5 roto style keeper league, we must keep 5 players and draft order is randomized each year. I need to determine my 5 keepers plus have a potential trade looming and would like to hear people's thoughts and feedback. I will also add there is a 220 starts maximum, but no cap on IP. Here is my final roster from 2012 (and some thoughts):

Now, we have a possible trade offer for our first pick of the draft for Joey Votto. That of course takes us out of the first round and we keep only 4 from this list. There always seems to be great pitching available late in this league and big bats are a bit more difficult to come by.

The Votto trade is not a certain either but my question is if it is worth replacing my 5th keeper and 1st pick for Votto. If the trade doesn't happen then I will need to decided a 5th keeper from this list, and that was pretty much my first question. Had already landed genuinely on Braun, Gonazalez, Hamilton, and Bruce.

I think you keep the 4 you mentioned and make that trade for Votto.

Any idea who the best available player will be at 1.1?

I can only speculate first round would consist of possibilities like Elvis Andrus, Zack Greinke, Billy Butler, BJ Upton, Brett Lawrie, Kris Medlan, Michael Bourne, Mark Trumbo. However, I still don't know if that Votto trade will happen and will need to know who to keep if it doesn't.
