I think they plan on extending Prado so they are looking at 3+ years of Prado plus some good prospects including a major league ready starter to get rid of a player they didn't like for whatever reason. I think the deal is pretty fair.
Braves trade of Prado leaves them with more than $10M under their limit. I'd love to see them use that to pick up a solid 3B option and avoid a platoon.
I think its a great move for the Braves. That will be a solid lineup and a great outfield for the next few years. Can't ask for more than that if you're a Braves fan.
If they can get even somewhat bounce back years from McCann and Uggla, that lineup is deep!
kubel is next! WelCome to the world of Kevin Towers, Dback fans... Having watched Towers trade all my SD Padres talent away for a sack of donuts over the years, none of this is surprising.
The positive net result of this should be that Adam Eaton finds a permanent home in OF and should be on everyone's fantasy radar in mixed leagues. On the downside, think Paul Goldschmidt fantasy season just took a big step backwards - Bill James will need to readjust those projections as he has far less protection around him in the line-up and not too sure who will be driving him in. Maybe that means he runs more and creates more opportunities, so there is also that possibility.
Meanwhile, BJ - Heyward - Justin atop the Braves lineup is ridiculous!
dback fans can't like this set of prospects vs what the mariners were dangling... basically they traded upton for the prado upgrade over cjohnson, a #4 SP, and nick ahmed... spruill and drury aren't much
As a dbacks fan, I don't know what to say, I like Prado, but c'mon. We'll have to wait more than a few years to compete again and with the nice pitching we have it's gonna be sad to see them lose ~85-90 games.

True, but there's no FAs to spend it on. There's not really any viable trade candidates lying around -- I doubt they have the ammo for Headley, or even Mike Olt.
I'm glad I'm not a D'Backs fan. Yikes. Dumping Young, Bauer and Upton for very weak returns because they aren't "gritty" enough. They'd have been much better off just dumping Gibson and getting a manager that is satisfied with immense raw talent.
