Well, for those of you who frequent this forum, you all know I need a second baseman pretty bad. I have a surplus in pitchers.
So, league specs are 16 teams Dynasty format h2h.
Trade offer: Brandon Phillips and Justin Verlander
For: Stephen Strasburg, Cory Luebke and Delino Deshields
Phillips contract is 8m/8m/10m Verlander is 16/16/16/16/16
Stras is 9/9/9/9/9 Luebke is 3/3/3 Deshields is 400k/600k/800k/1.2m/1.5m
I also have Cliff Lee (14/14/14/14), Zack greinke (10/10/10/10), Tim Lincecum (10/10/10/10), Peavy (2/2), Lohse (1.4), Ogando (3/3), Zach McAllister (400k/600k/800k/1.2m/1.5m) and Mike Montgomery (400k/600k/800k/1.2m/1.5m)
The actual value is there. If you are playing to win this year I would probably take the deal as I think it makes you better right now. But the money concerns me. You will be taking on an additional $12 a year. How is that going to affect you in your draft?
In a 16 team league your pitching depth is studly.
Yep this is a win now kind of deal. Long term I would rather have the Strasburg side. I think he will be pretty close in value to Verlander this year. Luebke will be fine this year but I see him taking a nice step forward next year. Deshields is a solid prospect with still some upside in what he may become.
But this year you solidify your 2B and you get the best pitcher in baseball. I think it is a solid deal and if you think you have a chance then do the deal. You may wish you never traded Strasburg at some point but if you win a championship with Verlander and Phillips, there won't be much room to complain.

I wouldn't do the deal...Keeping Stras locked up at 9 for the next 5 years (assuming I am reading it right) should be huge. Sure you need a 2B, but Stras could very well surpass Verlander this year and be the best pitcher in baseball. Also Deshields is a great sleeper prospect who could have a big impact. Maybe I am looking too far in the future, but I would rather have the Stras side.
It seems there has to be some salary issues here. Sure you are better for this year from a straight trade perspective, but when you gain $12M in salary this season alone, you are going to suffer at your auction in a financial capacity. I would actually pass. Keep Stras and use the extra 12M you save to buy a better 2B. If you can't find a better 2B, that is ok as well, it's a 16 team league, everyone is going to be thin is a position or even 2. I would see how the auction turns out, then trade after if/when someone has a pitcher go down and is in massive need of a pitcher.

I agree with waiting it out until after the draft. Perhaps adding a post-hype guy like Ackley is in the cards for you? It's not as sexy, but it could prove to be a savvy move in the end.
I'd keep Strasburg unless you're concerned about him getting hurt again. Phillips is good, but is in his 30's and doesn't steal as much as he used to. I'd try and move Greinke if you want to trade a starting pitcher. I think he's good but overrated.
