I was a new member in a league last year so my keepers were weaker than most. With that being said I finished ahead of a few established teams which was my main goal in year 1...I need to establish a strategy and here are my keeper options:
I can keep 4 Gio Gonzalez Roy Halladay Cliff Lee Chris Sale Andre Eithier Yoenis Cespedes
I realize a couple of these guys make you squirm in terms of "keepers" but Outfielders/big bats are hard to come by considering each team has 4 keepers and you can keep them forever. I made a few trades and have 2 picks in the 2nd and 6th rounds.
Roster spots have room for 5 outfielders and 4 SP so if I go all pitching, I have a solid staff and won't have to draft any for a very long time. Halladay and Lee make me nervous though. Thoughts?
This is certainly a tough one... Cespedes is a definite in my mind. Then I would go Gio, Lee, Sale. You can make a case for Halladay but I would take the younger SP here.

I agree with this. I don't love you keeping 3 SP out of 4 keeper spots but if that is the best keepers you have then that is what you do. I think I also stick with the younger arms.

Yeah, no one else I have is even worth mentioning. Like I said, wasn't dealt the best hand in my first season. So it sounds like you both see Halladay as not bouncing back? Definitely Cespedes over Eithier though?

. Not ideal, but those are the cards your dealt. A good draft and a trade or two may be in order.
I'd roll with Cespedes Gio Sale and Lee too. Then I'd follow this route. As the contenders sort out in your league next summer I'd look to see who you could put over the top with Lee + Gio (or Sale). If there are two such teams, all the better. Use your pitching to try to trade for an elite keeper bat for the next season.

Actually I do like Halladay this year and will try and get him if he falls far enough in most draft. I just don't think I would keep him over Sale or Gio. I could see an argument be made for Lee vs Halladay. I would lean towards Lee because he had a better year last year which means you have a better shot at getting Halladay in the draft.
