Trade my Wil Myers??

Postby biffy44 » Tue Jan 22, 2013 10:27 pm

In a 12 team H2H with 6 keepers. Each keeper has a Draft Pick penalty.
Avg, OBA, HR, R, RBI, SB for offensive stats

Was offered his Jose Altuve(Round 25) and Byron Buxton for my Wil Myers.

Buxton & Myers have No draft penalty as they are still Minors.

Currently my keepers are lining up as:
Justin Upton RD 1
Evan Longoria RD 5
McCutchen RD 12
Cespedes RD 12
Hosmer RD 18
Trout RD 25

My Minors are Profar, Myers, Taveras, Bogaerts, Gose, & Straily.
Lockingup 2B for a few years is tempting.
I know I'll be waiting longer for Buxton to make it over Myers showing up this season, but is Altuve at 25 enough value to let JUpton or Hosmer go?
Keeping Trout & Altuve both at 25, makes me lose my 25th & 24th Rd picks.
Plus, I'm more excited for Taveras than Myers IMO.
What do you guys think?

If I am reading this right, this would be a predraft trade so you would be forced to dump one of your current keepers. That makes the trade more like Altuve for Upton/Hosmer and Myers. I don't make that move.

Agreed. I don't like it straight up anyway.

I don't do this. Fill out 2B in the draft, you got a nice core and a real good stable of prospects to work with.

Echo.

Even if you don't include the keepers, it isn't a good deal. I am not completely bought into how good Myers might be but his upside is so much bigger than either of those guys that I would take the risk that he becomes a stud rather than trade for an ok 2B and a prospect that is years away.

This is an easy easy easy pass.
