He said several rounds ago to skip him if he's holding things up. And he has not been at the cafe since last night. I'll give him Viciedo, he can change it when he gets here if he wants.
Took Kenley more as un upside play. Brandon League inked a 3 yr deal in offseason, so most of LA thinks it's his role to start and Kenley slots into 8th. I still think Kenley, who had some off season heart work done, should have the role full time by June.
Last year, Leagues k/9 (6.75) and BB/9 (4.13) were amongst the worst in bigs for RP. I'm a huge Jansen fan and think this is a great "sleeper" closer to gamble on here. At worst, I'm looking at ~ 90- 100ks with solid peripherals...

I'm sure you know that in rotisserie, you're better off not punting any category. Drafting setup players is better after all the save chances are gone. There is no evidence to suggest that League will be pulled this year. I think you are better off the way you went.

There is plenty of evidence to suggest that league isn't very good and not very good closers don't usually keep their jobs all year. I fully expect the job will be Jansen's at some point. Also, since that chance combined with sick ratios and K numbers make him a better choice than most pitchers left on the board.

While I agree on not punting categories, relief pitching for me is all about drafting the talent and not the role. Last year, in my 14 teamer - I drafted Chapman, Romo, Addison Reed and Jansen. Turned out ok... Just my style of play. I think at least 1/3 of closers will lose their jobs, so I draft the arm not "position"...

I think thats a valid strategy. I think it would also depend on how deep your rosters are. If you bench/rosters are shallow I can see why you wouldn't want to wait around for the "talent" to get the job
Last year if you took Jansen it worked out well for the most part because his talent played out. The guy who drafted Guerra and just said I want the guy who will get me saves probably wasn't so happy.
Conversely if you drafted Vinnie Pestano hoping his talent would play out, it did not turn out as well.
I guess the answer is there is no right answer, lol.

League did quite well for the dodgers in 15 appearances last year hence the big contract, and although not a great performance in Seattle before that in 2012, he did quite well when given an opportunity to close games in 2011. I agree League might be on a short leash, and jansen is the better pitcher and that he will boost your K numbers (about 45), but you choose to get 1 out of 14 points in a category when drafting jansen instead of a closer at this point in the draft. To each their own.
