Wow, I am ever stumped trying to project Rockies hitters. Seems like they have way too many bats they need to get into the lineup. This is probably the situation I'll be watching the most in ST. Any insight appreciated.
First:
Helton says he's playing again. Let's hope not, but if he's healthy enough to fog a mirror they'll probably trot him out there out of loyalty. A Helton retirement would makes things a lot less cloudy.
Pacheco spent a lot of time at first last year, hitting .309 in 475 at bats.
Tyler Colvin got a few starts at first as well, and I can't see them wanting to sit him after hitting .290 last year with 18 HR and 7 steals in only 420 AB.
Middle IF:
Seems pretty set with Tulo and Rutledge? Nelson still filling in now and then presumably.
Third:
Chris Nelson locked in as the starter? He definitely held his own there last year. But do they sit Pacheco then? And Arenado's looking pretty good down on the farm, he'll be up soon.
OF:
Fowler and Cargo are locked in, and you can't really sit Cuddyer either. I'd love to see EY get some playing time, and Colvin has to get some starts out there if Helton is wasting away at first.
So who's the odd man out? Or men, I guess. Colvin, Pacheco, Nelson, Young all look like pretty nice options if they had full-time gigs.
