Adam Dunn or Justin Morneau?

Postby chargerss24 » Wed Jan 16, 2013 2:45 am

Who would you rather have to man 1B for a 12-team, 6x6 (standard stat + OBP/Holds) keeper league? Here's my team so far, I've got 1.50 to spend on the open slots as is.

C - J. Lucroy (0.20), OPEN
1B - OPEN
2B - D. Pedroia (1.70)
SS - S. Castro (2.10)
3B - E. Longoria (2.40)
MI - H. Ramirez (1.70)
CI - E. Hosmer (1.90)
OF - C. Gonzalez (3.40), J. Heyward (2.10), J. Upton (2.50)
U - B. Lawrie (1.50), D. Jennings (2.00), Dominic Brown (0.10)

SP - D. Price (2.00), B. Anderson (0.10), M. Moore (0.50), OPEN, OPEN
RP - J. McGee (0.10), M. Boggs, (0.10), S. Doolittle (0.10), OPEN

Minors - W. Myers, Z. Wheeler

Bench (Cutable/Tradable at this point and time)

J. Bruce (3.40), W. Rosario (1.40), Y. Alonso (0.90), B. Belt (1.00), Z. Cozart (1.20)
C. Hamels (1.90), J. Zimmermann (1.50), T. Cahill (0.60), A. Chapman (1.10), J. Nathan (0.40), J. Grilli (0.30), E. Frieri (0.30)

Any help would be greatly appreciated! WHIR as always! ;-D

I would go with Dunn. At least with him you know you'll at least get a healthy bat in your lineup for the whole season. Also I think 2011 was an outlier for him. He should at the very least hit 35-40 HRs and in an OBP league that terrible avg won't kill you quite as bad.

As for Morneau, I'm not sure I would waste a transaction on him if he were to hit the ww.

I would take Dunn. He doesn't carry the health concerns that Morneau does plus in a league which has OBP as an additional category, his poor BA will not be as harmful.

Dunn here as well. It isn't always pretty but you know what you are going to get.

I am all about Morneau this season. Dunn is certainly a safe choice, but Morneau has MVP type upside. This is the first time in 2 years where he has been able to go into an offseason and concentrate on his offseason conditioning rather than rehabbing. I predict a 2011 Berkman-like season.

I am from MN and have not been on the JM wagon for awhile, that being said, this is the year to grad him at value. They are saying that he is feeling great and is in line for a strong year. With Mauer and Willingham batting 3,4, JM should have decent plate opportunities. Batting 6 is Doumit, who is at least serviceable as a follow up bat.

I think you have much more upside with JM over DUNN

I'd go with Dunn here. You know he might hit 190 but he's gonna get you 35+ bombs. You know what you are getting. Morneau has too many question marks for me.

I think Dunn will hit closer to his normal average of .250-.260 along with the 35-40 hrs and 95-100 rbi. In a hitter friendly ballpark.
