Normally I don't take a catcher until late but I can't turn down 600+ AB's from a C with a career .323 average. My team desperately needed a high avg guy to offset Bautista/Teixiera/Hanley probably hitting a combined .260. Mauer seems to fit perfectly with a team of high power low avg players.
Here's the pitch on the way, a swing and a belt! Left field! Way back! BLUE JAYS WIN!

Considered Mauer with my last pick. Would've taken him had he fell to me again.

I guess we're that concerned about CC? I didn't want to splurge on a second SP before grabbing some offense, but I nearly went away from that strategy with my last pick (and may have even done so in the 6th too).

I already drafted MadBum and Wainwright. I didn't really want him either, but I couldn't let him sit out there any longer.

I considered CC too but felt I couldn't justify it after spending my 3rd round pick on Stras. The next tier of SP is my main target area if I spend an early pick on a SP.

This is probably why I haven't pulled the trigger because I'm not sure how they will rule it. If they just go by his last eligible positions, which I think is smart, he'd be C and 1B eligible...otherwise I wonder if they'll just put him as DH only...don't know how they'll treat that year off.

From the start-up discussion:

We generally do yahoo eligibility rules... 10 games played or 5 games started.

I guess my question is, under Yahoo!, is the eligibility of 10 games played or 5 games started for in-season play?

Or if Victor Martinez played 12 games at Catcher in 2011, is he eligible for catcher in 2013?
