Medlen for Craig, WHIR

Hey guys,

We get to keep 8 guys in my 16 team 8x8 roto league. I finished 2nd last season, but based largely on my offense. I usually intend to keep 5 bats and 3 arms, but I don't know given my mediocre pitching options. We also have a 15 man minor league system we keep from season to season.

Would you keep those 8 I have listed, or make the deal for Craig/Skaggs?

This is close for me but I like the offer for you. Medlen should be able to be replaced (depending on other teams' keepers) and Allen will give you a strong offense (although with less position eligibility than last year). Are there alot of big name pitchers available? I definitely like Skaggs more than Perez and think he could be fantasy relevant this year.

Make the trade, one can typically find 2-3 very serviceable pitchers throughout the season, finding a bat on the other hand is always harder to do. Craig is expected to be very solid. Medlen is as well but one just never knows what can happen with a young arm.

I wouldn't keep any of the secondary players in your deal. So it really comes down to Craig vs Medlen. I am not quite as high on Craig as most since he has never shown that he can stay healthy. I guess you could say the same for Medlen, but there is just something about him. I was not a Medlen owner last season & I do not get caught up in the hype. I expect him to be pretty solid and maybe great. I would stick with Medlen.

I am a big Craig fan and will try and own him in mult leagues. Not sure Medlen will replicate last year and if a trade is close, which I think this is, then I tend to err on hitting. So my vote would be the Craig part of the deal.

Take Craig. I think he is a stud if he can stay on the field. Medlen will be good though but I don't see him repeating his last half of the season last year.

I usually prefer keeper bats, and I like Craig going forward so would make the deal. You'd have to look at pitching early though in the draft probably. I like the depth available this year though.

I also have Medlen ahead of Johnson and Lester. I am pretty high on Medlen this year so i don't think I would be willing to move him for Craig.

I always prefer to keep bats over pitchers. It also sounds like in your league there will likely be players that you can obtain in a draft that will replace Medlen, s I would make the deal and keep Craig.
