Who do you see as a better first round selection? They can have very similar years with Pujols having a slight boost with the SB but Prince being a bit more durable. Will Pujols have the rough start again, or did he get used to being in the AL West and can now keep up the 2H numbers for the whole season? Does Hamilton help Pujols? Does the return of V-Mart and acquisition of Torii Hunter help Prince?
I think that you could flip a coin. I personally prefer Fielder. As you mentioned, he has some improved protection this season and has been very durable and consistent. He is a safer selection. I don't like missing with an early pick.

The only thing that would concern me is that its been two straight years. And 2012's start was worse than 2011's so its trending downwards.
I still would love to own either one, but if I had to choose I think I go with Fielder right now.
After I posted my opinion, i found this great article about Pujols and its given me a lot to think about. That downward trend in the article is concerning...

That article sums it up pretty well. I saw some of those numbers recently because I was having a discussion about trading Pujols in a keeper league. I feel that the "Pujols" name still has a premium attached to it, when his numbers actually tell a different story. I had suggested if you can still get that "Pujols" premium, I would heavily consider moving Pujols.
As a longtime cards fan - I honestly think that Albert's best days are behind him. I would take Fielder as I think Pujols will be streaky this year and have periods he will struggle.
